Joco,
I heard several years ago about shad at Carillon, and I drove down. I found a lot of people fishing, but they were all after walleyes. When I asked about shad, they looked at me like I had two heads. No one had ever heard of the shad.
So I was really happy to read your post. Have you done this yourself? What's the access to the river like? I have a yak, but I was wondering about shore fishing. Any chance of that? I like your idea a lot, so let's keep this thread going.
By the way, if you're yak fishing in fast water, folks, DON'T use an anchor. If it jams, and there's a good chance it will, it will sink you.

I think the shad will be at it's best at the end of May. I'll talk to some of the local boys and get some reports.
