big wave on the ottawa.

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Speaking of "fish" in waves, last year during my summer vacation down in Wildwood Crest, NJ I was body surfing a nice wave at low tide. So I was way out there and really goin, felt good, turned to my right and was startled to see a 7 ft. bottlenose surfin the wave about 5 ft from me! He was lookin right at me, what a thrill, still have goosebumps thinkin about it, just like that he was gone. Never been that close to nature before, gotta say it rattled me a bit but holy cow! Joe.

Ya know it's funny, that was the very first thing that came to me when I saw the thing, thank God I could tell what it was right away. The water was crystal clear and it was soo close, I saw the face and markings and knew it was a dolphin right away, damn if he wasn't laughing at me, his eyes were on me, it was eerie. I talked to the lifegaurd when I came ashore and he said it's quite common but it's a first for me.

Don't think the water temp gets hot enough for a Great White, thank God, but there have been shark sitings along the Jersey shore from time to time. I'm a real nature nut and have many stories, on the same trip I was swimming underwater and spied a Ray bout 10 ft away, swam towards it and he flew to deeper waters, it's amazing what's around us when we're in the ocean! Joe.

The kayaker should know that there are many strainers (old rerod and trapped logs and limbs) in the ruins and it is my job to go and rescue these thrill seekers. He seems quite skilled but this is no place for a newbie. Two or three times a year weekend warriors get trapped in the ruins or get flushed through with their shredded boats. If you want to fish down stream of this spectacle you can put in on the Quebec side off of Chemin vanier then chemin deschenes. There are no hydrographic maps for this area so be CAREFUL. This is not the stretch of water you want to lose a prop. Play safe , tight lines

TRUE

there is a tons off metals bars in that area.

and ciment structure just under the surface wen water that high.

if you dont no the area.just keep out.

the acess to the huge waves is out off acess to people to rescue....and hard to see frome shore.

look fun and mabe fun to do..but for expert only i would say.

at least for that area.

i should be in that area soon in my yak..but NOT in those waves. 8)

down stream..and up to the walls.

soon. 8)
