A different type of fishing that has seen rewards been reaped by many. This forum allows us to learn more about Float and Fly fishing from those who have made it their number 1 way to fish.
For all those people that have been bugging me, Tuesday will be this season's kickoff for the Summer Evening Flyfishing.
Date: May 27th (Tuesday) Time: 6pm Location: Dow's Lake Target Species: Panfish, Carp
Notes: Parking should be available at the Hartwell Locks (access via Prince of Wales Dr.) This will be a shore based fishing evening so you can leave your wading gear at home. Also be sure to work on your roll casts. We don't want to hook any joggers, etc.
I will be parking at the locks and will start fishing around the foot bridge that crosses the creek/inlet from the arboritum.
Sorry I have been really busy over the winter with work. However I will be attending more events this summer, but unfortunately I had to work again late tonight and was not able to make it. If you are going next Tuesday I will defenatly be coming.
it was a pretty fun time. caught about 8 or 10 sunfish/bluegill, 1 perch and 1 LM bass that ended up releasing itself.
my best flies were #14 scuds in purple and green. i had on buzzers, weevils and copper johns but they didn't do as well. there was a pod of fish where i could see them taking my flies. the buzzer and weevil they just tapped and sniffed to see if it was real. the scuds they took more freely.
While it turned out to be a chilly evening, the panfish bite was good. At least one large LM was spotted as was a good 10lb carp. The back bays in the arboritum would be a great spot to hit early in the mornings for carp and bass (once the season opens).
