Did you guys wade the stream or beat your way along the banks? Looks pretty rustic...and I'd have to say very inviting. I used to fish a lot of streams when I was younger and reading the water of a good pool was fun to do. I was marking the areas I'd fish in your pics and strategizing what side of the bank to be on for a perfect cast. Sounds like you guys were drifting worms under a float. Have you ever tried using size 0 & 1 roostertails? That's all I used to use.
Also, I've seen enough black flies for a while. I think the welts are finally gone after two weeks!
Well done boys and thanks for sharing the story. This spot just has to be McLaurin Bay, right!?

Tight Lines,
Its not McLaurin Bay...........its the stream leading into McLaurin Bay
Great report. Judging by the tail of the last trout it looks like a stocker but sounds like there was a good mix of wild fish. That looks just like the stream I was fishing yesterday (but different province) and the bugs were the worst I've ever seen!
I did use rosster tails and mepps before (N1 and N2)
This is what i use now
this ones allows you to fish upstream with the same speed as current goes
and it keeps spinning even when it falls. i also use small salmo hornets and a few japanese hardbaits you could get off ebay. zipbaits rigge, smith camion, anre`s republic bug minnow to name a few. size some of them could be compared to large fly- streamer but the main difference in my opinion is price and movement.
i use only artificial baits - because for me it is more fun this way. you have to trick the fish and often it is matter of presentation. not the bait.
holy crap those are rooster tails?? man i have too many of those. my parents bought them for me years ago and never used them.
anyways, yeah those brookies weren't stocked that i can garantee. all natural baby. we saw some 1 and a half inch brookies in there. yeah they don't stock it.
Folks, talk about a hardcore trout angler. Matt has been trying to get me to swing a few things to get out in the bush all this morning Really wish I could have made it...Will put on a clinic for walleyes and troutsies sometime this weekend Matt...
See you soon..Crappies should be biting. Bring tubes...
