A different type of fishing that has seen rewards been reaped by many. This forum allows us to learn more about Float and Fly fishing from those who have made it their number 1 way to fish.
I'm now a big believer in the saying "there's only three things certain in life: death, taxes and leaky waders." After only one season, my Orvis ProGuide2 waders have developed a leak at the seam in the crotch. Luckily they're covered under warranty but the downside is that I have to pay to ship them to Roanoke, Virgina. I'm now waderless for at least 3 weeks
Is it too much to ask for a company to make a pair of waders that last more than a season?? This is my fourth pair of waders in three years. The last two sets (from LL Bean) leaked on the first day.
I'm on my 3rd pair of Orvis Silver Labels. I find them to be great until the 4th season when the leaks in the neoprene feet become unrepairable and the warranty has expired.
Well I guess you could just dip yourself in some liquid latex each time. LOL
lol
Since I'm in Manchester Vermont right now I'm going to have a little talk with the folks down here at Orvis headquarters to see what they can do for me. Unfortunately I had to send my waders to Virginia otherwise I would have dropped them off here. Looking forward to checking out the shops tomorrow. It'll be like a kid in a Candy Store.
Season 4 on my Orvis Silver Label 2's and haven't had an issue yet. I've trampled through some back bush to get to little streams and they keep on going.
Thinking I'll be getting a pair of the new ProGuide 3's (Hookup loves his, and they seem to fit with less of a balloon feel than my SL2's)...but they aren't exactly cheap!

ProGuide 3 - Ok yes I own them.. Yes I've been wading a total of 5 times in my life... They are WAY out of my price range and league/need. The short-short story is I went to Green Drake to get the Silver Labels, they were out of stock in my size. I Thought I was trying on an older-seasons Proguide 2's at a discount price.. ~$240. Then I got to the cash and found out they were Proguide 3's with no discount ($399). OUCH. But I had spent a 1 hour lunch, which took over 2 hours at the Drake and was in a rush to get back to work, needed waders for fishing, am generally an impatient fellow so instead of putting them back I just whipped out Mr. visa and let him do the talking...
The upside... I LOVE MY WADERS. I cannot imagine a more comfortable system. You can take my rod & reel before you touch my waders.. i love them... LOVE LOVE LOVE.
The downside... $458 after tax for waders!!! Man, that'll take some time to pay off. That day it took some explaining to the wife... and some diamonds of equal or greater value (emphasis on the greater part)..
The ProGuide3s are nice waders, hopefully they'll hold up for you. I like how they've moved the seam to the back of the leg. I don't know why it's taken wader companies so long to do this.
I liked my ProGuide2's until they leaked. Got one season out of them. I'm either really hard on waders or I have really bad luck.
