Steering wheel issue.

Post by Wallyboss »

Just a question about my boats steering wheel. when then motor is straight the steering wheel is turned to one side . To straighten the steering wheel is it as easy as to pull the pin that keeps the cable inside the steering box, pull the cable out, straigthen the steering and put cable and pin back ????

Do you have hydraulic or rack steering (Cable)?
You do not want to be playing with the cable or assembly in any way but the steering wheel usually have 3 notches that a key way fits in on the steering colum. Remove the lock nut and remove the steering wheel but make sure that the key way on the steering shaft does not fall out. They are very hard to find replacements. Re asdjust the wheel straight and re attach the lock nut and center cap and drive on.

If you have a hydraulic steering system pm me and I can send you instructions. They are to lengthy to post.
