Quick Question - Selling my Boat

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Quick Question - Selling my Boat

Post by gooseman »

Bad news is the seadoo boat is almost sold.. good news is a new(well new to me) fishing boat may soon to be in my future.

My question is what documentation do I need to sell the boat, I have a vehicle pemit for the trailer but the only documentation I have for the boat is the original bill of sale(i bought it new). I have the boat licensed (the numbers on the side) but I don't have any paper work... is this normal ???

Thanks again

you also need the paper copy of the "pleasure craft license" which you have to sign and date so that the new owner can change the ownership.

Any service ontario outlet should be able to help you out with it, just take your bill of sale and license number.

depending on goosemans age he may not need a pleasure craft license until next year. You can make up your own bill of sale (written receipt). Just call service Ontario and ask what you need......they are going to want to know, make how old it is hp rating...etc.

You will also need to get yourself some kind of check and balance with the Canadian Coast Guard on this one.

As it is a water vessel they control the #'s. The new buyer is the one to do the registrations. They are done at Service Canada Kiosks.

1-800-O-Canada is the number to call to find out your nearest office.

Thanks!
