After market boat cover?

Post by Mr.J. »

I'm in the market for a new after market boat cover.

My comment on this is that the sizes are quite varied. How does one cover fit a aboat from 16' to 18' and then another one fits a boat 14' to 16'. So if I have a 16' boat which one do I get?

I have a Princecraft 162 Pro which has a 55 inch beam if I remember correctly.

So I would like to ask about getting an after market boat cover and hear what your selection criteria was and how you found the best fit for your boat.

Thanks in advance.

Mr J: I have ordered in a that is your landednumber of boat covers for customers through Bass Pro Shops (including one for my boat) and everyone has been very happy with the price and fit. If you find a cover in the BPS catalogue that you think would work, multiply the price by the exchange rate (currently around 1.18), add 15% for pst and gst, and that is your landed cost including taxes in Canadian funds.

I bought a $100 cover from CTC last year and it got ripped to shreds from last winters heavy snow..... spend the extra $$ and get a good canvas cover.

HI Mr J

I have the CTC cover ($200.00+)

I have the same boat as you.
The beam I think is a 73inch.
I cover size I have is the 16-18ft.

The cover is a little loose across the top but this leave lots of room when hauling camping gear, inflated tubes ect.

If using the cover without anything else in the boat, I will use an extra pair of tie downs (1 across the bow and 1 half way between the console and the stern) to keep the cover from ballooning up when towing.
When stored during the season its in the garage.
During the winter I put a frame inside the boat to hold the cover up and shed the snow ect, then cover with a tarp.
It has lasted 3yrs so far with no holes.
