I had an awesome day shorefishing the Jock River near the Rideau today. Caught some real beauty walleyes, two of them 20 inches long. Lost a couple really nice ones at my feet. Ended up with my limit and had some company near the end of the day from Xenos. Thank you Xenos for taking some pics, now if i could just figure out how to get them on here... Xenos? Help.

An awsome day of shorefishing
Well, the slicing and dicing is done. Walleye is in the fridge for tomorrow nights dinner and the rest is safely sealed away in the freezer to be eaten VERY soon. The final weight on the meat was 5lbs and 3oz all cleaned up.
I took note while cleaning the fish and was suprised to see that all of these fish tonight were males. Even the 20 inchers. I was glad to leave the females alone. Looks like the Rideau walleye fishery is doing pretty good.

Ransome, I was near the mouth of the Jock at the Rideau. Around the bridge and a couple cast lengths up from the bridge. I was using various sized jigs depending on the depth / current in the area 1/8 to3/8. Colour varied but most were caught on Chartreuse using worms. I did catch one decent one on a minnow. Having said that, I'm sick enough to almost always check the stomache contents of my catch and found them all to have bellies full of minnows or small sunfish.
One other thing, it seemed that if I was catching (what I think are) small suckers I was catching the walleye as well. When the sucker bite stopped so did the walleye.
Hope this helps!

Hey Jay
I have another buddie I fish with who always out fishes me (In number of catches only) and you hold up a stringer full, guess your my next fishing buddie to out fish me.
I've got 20 new spinners I made this year that still haven't gotten wet yet so let's dig out the canoes and go get em!
P.S. That's the best catch I've ever seen anyone get at that point where the Jock runs into the Rideau.
