Summer Evening Fishing (Aug 12th)

Ok, we'll give the Ottawa one last chance. Hopefully the water levels will have come down since the last time we were on it.

Location: Britannia Filtration Plant (Ottawa R.)
Time: 6pm or whenever you want to get on the water
Parking: Parking available just before you enter the Britannia Filtration Plant, or along Cassels St.(map)
Species: SM, Channel Cats, Browns...
Suggested Flies: your fav SM streamers, etc., poppers, etc. Hot pink Canadian Killers have been recommended for the cats.

Notes:
As with any location on the Ottawa, proper footwear and a wading staffer are hightly recommended.

Any one know if this area of the water can be fished with a quebec license. I have a friend who would like to join me and quebec seems to have a one day license for 10$...

You can fish the Ottawa River with an Ontario or Quebec licence.

There was a lot of water moving very quickly through the channel. It made for some tough (and probably dangerous) wading. I know I was very conscious of where the ripcord was on the inflatable PFD I use as a wading belt.

I got a couple of little smallies to hand and one LDR.

Would not go back there unless the water dropped a couple of feet.

Ahhh, had a few of those myself tonight at Strathcona Park. Boy, has the water ever dropped there. I had to really search for the fish.

Jerry,

The water was scary (almost suicidal) high. The highest I've ever seen it this time of year. It's good to hear that the water is coming down on the Rideau. Actually Strathcona park fishing somewhat better when the water is down. You either fish above the rapids or down at the very bottom as far out as you can wade.
