Ottawa River
Ottawa River
How has the ottawa been producing lately? haven't fished it much this year, was out only once with Bobber but didn't manage anything worth mentioning... gonna be out again thursday and i hope to do some shore fishing wednesday but i was wonderin... is the Ottawa still looking like chocolate milk? are the fish holdin deep or shallow? hopefully the rain stays away and the cold fronts dont move in like they are planned to... im sick and tired of my love/hate relationship with the mighty Ottawa, but there are some giants in there for sure... so i can't turn my back on it yet...

I've been out a few times from Petrie shore and found the water level is high. Most back bays are muddy/stained as usual. the bite has been really slow.
Notice a fair bit of debris floating around , especially in the area of the ferry's as they turn up alot of stuff. Once was a 10ft log barley noticeble and another was half a fishing rod and the other was a large tree branch.
the usual deadheads are under the water now so be careful out there.
If the wife allows it, I might try an evening fish.
Drop by and say hello.

I always notice if I look on google earth that the water always seems very muddy down from the city of Ottawa...above it's totally clear and nice, but below all the way to montreal really it's like brown.......
So I imagine it's lookin like chocolate milk....although that doesn't mean bad fishing at all.....
Hay Bay in the Bay of Quinte is always muddy like that and it has good fishing.....
good luck!

I've been doing ok around Rockland. Lots of pike earlier in the season, lots of decent 3 -5 lbers. A few decent smallmouth too pushing 2 lbs. Whenever I go in the evening I always get a few sauger and walleye, only got one real nice one this summer though (actually the fiancee got it). It's my first summer here, I don't have anything to compare to, but I find the fishing on the Ottawa similar to what I'd experience in New Liskeard on Lake Temiskaming. Havn't gotten skunked yet, hopefully it stays that way.
Tight lines everyone,

She sure does BA!!!Bass Addict wrote:Jamsers wrote:I heard at the MCI meeting last night that someone bagged a 56" on the Ottawa yesterday!!!!
She is producing Muskies....that's for sure!
Could be due to the fact .............
That the Ottawa River System has a very healthy Muskie population![]()
Got alot of action in Wendover a few weeks back! Lost a real doozy who headed for the weeds on contact!
Boated a 36" later on, no consolation!
Partner had 2 strikes also.
I'm fishing the Fitzroy Classic in Sept for them!
Should be interesting as I don't know the area well and I hear its pretty rocky in alot of places!!!
