Booking a site on Crotch Lake

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Booking a site on Crotch Lake

Post by sunchaser81 »

Hi everyone,
I am thinking of doing a fishing trip for next May on Crotch Lake ( I know this season isn't over yet :) but I like to plan ahead.
I was wondering if anyone knew how soon you could book a site in the North frontenac Park lands, is it like the Provincial Parks, not more then 5 months in advance?
Thank you for your help

Hi Sunchaser81,

My in-laws have a cottage up that way and I would call the folks at the Double s Sports Marina. They own the corner store/marina in Ompah on Palmerston Lake. They might not take the bookings but I'm sure they will be able to point you in right direction. They are really nice folks. The phone number is 613-479-2176. I hope this helps.

You can book your site at this website...
http://www.northfrontenacparklands.com/book.html

There is a phone number to call regarding when next season becomes available, the number is 1-800-234-3953 or email them at recreation@northfrontenac.ca

Its all Crownland so just show up early and there is a small ice creame place next to a house at the top of the hill leading down to Tumblehome Lodge, you go in there and a lady will come out and you tell her you want to camp on the islands (assuming you have a boat), she will issue you a permit and you go out and find a spot. She has maps with camp site locations. You will need a boat though. Alot of people canoe to spots.

It does not cost alot either.

Thanks for the replies,
Yes I will be fishing out of a boat and hope to stay on an Island, I just received an email from North Frontenac Park Lands and they said they don't sign the land use permit with MNR until March or April and then they would allow bookings for people for that year.
I might go to the lake for some walleye fishing in early Sept and check things out as I haven't been on this lake before.
Thanks again for your help.

Sunchaser, it is a beautiful lake and there are fish! It is a hard fish though, you really have to search. Just go to Tumblehome and speak with Ward or Jeff and they will point you in the right direction. Lots of camping spots but get there early because they fill up quick on weekend and especially long weekends. I have been going to the lodge and camped on the islands for about 8 years now and love it.

Thanks for the info Badger shark,
I am hoping to plan the trip for 6 to 10 of us for the next opening walleye season. I was talking to North Frontenac Township office this morning and he suggested a couple of sites , so as long as I am able to book them early we should be good to go. How busy is the lake in May?
