Pakenham

Post by Salar »

Hi Everyone,

My brother and I decided to fish below the Pakenham rapids tonight with the pontoon boats. The bite was pretty dead tonight. We only landed 2 bass between the two of us. There were a couple of boaters there and only saw them catch two bass and a pike.

It's was a nice night out anyways.

Oh well, you may have not caught a ton of fish but look at the beauty of that area!

I love that bridge, it's very nice to look at and the rapids are very interesting, the water above is so clean and clear, it's a nice place to be.......

Half of fishing is just getting out and being in nature and exploring etc.

Surprised you only caught 2 fish between you but maybe next time you'll do better....the bite has been weird lately.at least for me....

By the way there is a nice trout stream near there......5 mins or so......

You probably know about it though.....

Take Care!

I've always wondered what that area would be like to fish. What is the current like below the rapids? From the pics it looks quite calm.

The current right now below the rapids is manageable. You can sit below the rapids and fish either side of the main current line. The one thing you have to watch out for there is the back eddy. The water slowly pulls you back up towards the rapids. If you're not paying attention it'll push you right up into the waterfall. In higher water flows it's very dangerous to fish there. The rapids act just like a low head dam. Do a search of 'drowning machine' on google and you'll know what I mean.

The fishing there can be good. I've got some nice bass and walleye.

Anytime you want to try one out, let me know. You know you'll have to buy a pontoon, your fleet won't be complete without it :D
