I need something less that 100 lbs (as I'll be carrying it around) that will last FOREVER, would be durable, something that would give me little trouble over the long term. Short shaft.
not just carb needs switching.....exhaust and a few other things too. but as you said, its not too difficult...they share the same powerhead i believe. I have a 25hp that is almost identical to the 35....I'm planning to do the same thing to that if i can find the carbs for it
I have a '96 yamaha oil injected 2 stroke 20 hp, and it comes in just over a 100 lbs. I swear by it. It starts on the first pull all the time. Plus, no mixing gas and oil. I am sure the smaller ones would not be any different.
The Yamaha dealer I'm dealing with says he can give me a 2009 9.9 2 stroke for a great price, but can't give me as good a deal on the 15 since they don't alrready have one in stock. They've offered to sell me the 9.9 and for $100 more they're going to change the reed cage to turn it into a 15 for me. I've researched both engines and I can't find any difference with them....all specs are the same, all parts have the same part number through a Yamaha parts website I found. Someone said something about needed to also change the exhaust - I don't know...in this case I don't see why they'd need to if everything but the reed is the same.
Thoughts ?
