Naw, I'm thinking close to home, easy access, fun to wade... leave the tubes at home... I really have a lot of fun when I wade/fish... It's sooo different than boat fishing and not boring like shore-fishing...
I'm only out till about 9am-9:30am anyhow... so the close to home is kind of key.
Tubing is "nice" but it was slow and slow and slow when we did it at the jock, there are places where that is a plus, and places where it is a minus.. i'm thinking the more current you get, the more of a minus.. the back-lakes and so fourth where I can bob around and troll would be more suited to tubes.
That's me being somewhat lazy though... which i tend to be.
As for Long-Island, given the parking restrictions at the locks, is it better to go in at Barnsdale Rd. and wade/power-fish down to the damn, or to park at the locks, walk the ~10 km to the damn, fall down the hill to the water, and then start to fish? Falling down the hill is only an option, i guess we could walk down the hill... and i'm sure it's a bit closer than 10km..
The other place would be the Jock at Jockvale Road behind the barrhaven town center area... never fished there before, but it looks like some deeper pools exist... Also the Jock has some rapids and some bigger pools at Greenbank Rd... Again, I've never fished there before, that would be more of a tube-place... I'm not sure I want to put my tube into the Jock... Again, not really looking forward to the smell....
My "pref" would be past the damn area at Long-Island Locks... But i'll go with the flow for sure...

Alrighty, here's my plan for this weekend's fun.
Saturday, Sept 13. Meet at the Barnsdale/Bartlett Park area for 06:00-ish...we can then wade down beyond the rapids and fish below the dam and see what develops or we can try further up the Jock were Todd seemed to have all the luck last week... : ) It's only a 5 minute drive if we decide to try further up the Jock.
Leaving the tube at home, check.

The weather is looking like it's going to give us a break for tomorrow. I'll be in the Bartlett Park parking lot for 06:00, might scoot down the road before the bridge (name escapes me) in order to avoid the rapids and hit the water below the dam, but I'll be in the usual parking lot for 06:00.

Fishing Report:
The fishing was good. Best luck on chile peppers, size 6. Mine was modified with a bright yellow tail.
Picked up 2 over 14 inches and nice and fat... a solid 2lbs each.. below the last rapids after the falls..
Oh, and I fell in. so now i'm a real fly-fisher... yeah, got soaked... kinda funny, glad it happened on the wade back to the car...
