There is a Walmart in Malone now. It's west on Route 11 about another km down the road past K-mart.Todd B. wrote:Wal-Mart? where is it in Malone?

What time are you guys leaving Ottawa on Sunday, or meeting (where?) near Malone?
I do not know if I can come, but I would like to see if there is a chance of fitting it in.
I was down Tuesday and Wednesday with a buddy who is soon off to Afghanistan. We fished the Salmon down from the lower Angler's Parking lot on Lower Flat Rock Road late Tuesday afternoon into the dark. We went to the Cargin bridge Wednesday morning, then the same stretch from the day before.
I cannot recall the temperatures exactly -- 63-ish F on Tuesday. At 0715 Wednesday at Cargin the air was about 51F and the water was about 57F. It was back to the low sixties, as I recall later by Lower Flat Rock.
Tuesday was a bit high and a bit muddy. Wednesday was pretty good -- only very slightly brown and a bit higher than what I consider "normal".
I fished almost exclusively dries and was contented with my catch, although it was not near the numbers of nymphing in June.
Would post more, but gotta run...

the weather is not looking super fantastic for sunday:

at least in cornwall anyways. is there a better forecast for that area?
looks like rain for the fri, sat and sun. hoping the water isn't too mucky.

I guess that means that wongrs does not have the Weather Underground websites bookmarked on his home, office, and laptop computers for Malone NY, Lake Placid NY, and Pulaski NY.

To my mind, this is a good enough forecast for Malone that, all else being equal, I would go on that day. In retrospect, I think I avoided going too many days that forecast even thunderstorms back in the spring and early summer.
