Rule number one while fishing ...........cell phone is off

The reason she kept calling was because you kept answering
Exactly !
I usually put it on silence mode. I check once in the middle of the day LOL.

Pick one:
1) "Honey there was no cell service....thats why I didi't answer"
2) " Dam battery Died on me"
3) " I may need a new phone i dropped the old one in the lake... I am gonna try to dry it out"
4) " the phone fell out of pocket in the truck/car. I didn't realize it until we were way out on the lake"
5) " Stop calling every thirty minutes! What you don't like when I talk like that? Don't let the door hit you in your fat azz on your way out" (this last one is a scorched earth kinda excuse. your man card needs to be fully paid up)

Things that ruin my fishing day? Last year I decided to go fishing for perch on the St Lawrence river near Prescott at the grain elevator arrived on the dock and the dock was lift and the guy where working on it and he told to go on top of it but when I went on top of it the dock was wet I slip and fell on my right knee :x and make a deep wound and that was the end of my fishing day :x . I had to go to hospital and get 4 stiches done on my knee.

It didn't really ruin that days fishing but a few of those that followed were put off for a while (I was using my dads boat at the time).

Well, here's the story; I had decided to drive up to the old family home and borrow my dads boat and do a little fishing on the Ottawa.
Georgous day, bright sunshine with a light breeze and a few clouds here and there.
I had seen my fathers brand new digital camera on the counter and asked him if I could try it as I hadn't brought one of my own (I usually just take a disposable with me when I go out).
He spent about 20 minutes lecturing me on his brand new pride and joy and how I'd better not break it.
I, of course, inserted all the appropriate promises in their correct positions throughout his speech.................
Out on the water, finally! :D
Motor up a couple of minutes to the first spot I wanna try up by an old beaver lodge at the mouth of a creak.
First cast, damn I'm snagged on some sunken branch or log but the "snag" moves upstream and it's taking out drag!!!
I don't know what it is yet but I know it's got "shoulders".
So, after a few impressive jumps, tail walks and a good fight I lift that beast and hold it up high.
It's just a beautiful largemouth, I mean it's a good 4lbs + with spectacular colours shining in the sun and a pattern that looks like Pinochio taking a lie detector test.
I pop the hook out and hold it at arms length so I can take a shot of it with the old man's new ($1400.00) camera.
"Click" and it's done.
I lean over still staring at that beautiful specimen and drop it in the water with a little "plop".
I stand back up and admire it some more...........that fish is still absolutely stunning sitting there at arms length. :(
That was a few years ago and we've never talked about it again other than when he asked me "where's my camera" when I came back in (much) later that day.
When I mumbled "in the river" he just stared at me for a good minute and then walked away.
I'm driving up shortly to go cut his grass.
Have a great weekend.

They are all perfectly acceptable. It's all in the delivery and the attitude.

Well for me it started out to be a great 2week vacation on the mighty Ottawa. Was pumped and geared up to fish the upper Ottawa. Launched the boat, unpacked and was ready to go. Our neighbour for the week was telling me he was having motor trouble. As he was heading out I told him I would keep an eye out for him. Several hours past so out I went . I found him fishing away with no trouble. On my return trip back to the cottage MY engine started stalling out, eventually quiting, . I was the one that had to be towed back in Blown engine . At least I had a lot of fishing magazines to read.
