Have fun guessing the weight of my year PB!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

The truth of the mather is this....try to pull such a bass in a body of water under soooo much pressure is quite an accomplishment!

Mc Bay is not Ontario Lake....it is a small body of water for the amount of boaters fishing there. Every years hundreds of boats will cruise on it in search of the big toads!!!

It take some skills in order to get the 4.5 pounders + on a regular bassis

It's more than just a "casting everywhere" Bay......there are some key spots on the spots like other body of water....and of courses that changes at different stages of the bass season.

I can tell you all to go and fish on that spot using that lure but that might be different in a few weeks though.

My key to sucess is the years I have spend in there. I keep a log since 2001 !! All my past outings are on paper....this is the edge I have on Mc Bay!......+ the instinct of course

That bass looks to me to be around 6lbs maybe a bit more. It looks real fat. I just look at your hand when you hold it. Unless you have tiny hands that bass is huge.

The bass that 24/7 is holding seems smaller.

EDIT:

Just look at the size of the mouth vs the body I will revise my guesstimation to 7lbs

Mc Bay, Mc Bay....does anyone talk about or fish any other body of water around here???? :?

In all seriousness...

I really hope this small section of water can support the added pressure that the ongoing advertising campaign will undoubtedly bring it. Sure it coughs up some dandy fish, but I wonder how you guys will feel when someone posts a report on here showing a plump 5+ fish on a stringer - ready to get stuffed and put on the wall?

I am certainly not judging those that put fish on the wall (although a replica truly is the way to go in this day and age), but that is the one greatest fear I have when openly discussing productive fisheries.

Case in point - my "secret" bass lake has coughed up 3 verified 5lb 14oz fish, as well as a 6lber in the last three years. Quite a few low to mid-fives have also been caught. Will I ever give out the name of this lake? Never. Sure, I want this place to myself. But my main reason is not knowing if "strangers" will put those fish back. Only those that fish it with me, or that I highly trust know where it is...and that is the way it will always stay.
(And if truth be known, I really enjoy the peace and tranquility that comes from fishing a lake that is fairly void of other boats - or at least the kind that have fishing rods in them.)

Not judging any of you guys that put Mc Bay on the map. But you have to ask yourself one question - can this bay support the added pressure that it will be subjected to? And remember - just because the majority of us trophy hunt for the sheer joy of catching large fish, and putting them back to swim another day, doesn't mean the next guy will....

As for your fish, 444 - I'd say a low 6. Hard to judge with a portion of it missing, but it definitely is a chunk.

Good Fishing,

Change the name to McGayBay. Hope you guys like your average bass fishery getting pounded.

Isn't sitting at a keyboard bragging about friggin bass amazing boys??

My friends 7 yr old caught a 6 pounder in July while crappie fishing, and he wasn't even trying. Tough stuff eh, you need to be a reallll pro....

Haha...keep pounding that water for your 5 lber fella! Big deal..haha

Make sure you bring your camera so all your cyberfriends can comment on your life.

well you didnt way it so that pretty much sums it up.

by the looks of it, it is tall, but i cant tell you how fat. i dont have a clue what your regular catches are like, but i can see that your fist would barely fit in its mouth. so its definately not over 6. right now it has a small head / mouth in my opinion. you said it was short so thats another factor.

i would say hovering in the neighborhood of high 4s low 5s - 5.5 tops and thats being generous.

its definately a quality fish. how big do the fish get in that body of water? what were you using if you dont mind me asking?

:)

No argument it's a shoe-in to the Nickel Club, but it is a shame the picture cuts such a beautiful fish right down the middle. Assuming you used a tripod? Because if a person took that pic, I'd murder them!

I think we should organise a weekly Mc Bay tournament for every member of Fish-hawk...and every other board around. Then we can pound the snot out of it quickly so we don't have to listen to all these posts forever......cause you know it's just a matter of time before one of you guys gets on here and says.... booohooo"What happened to the good fishing at Mc Bay? It used to be so good." Then yoou can be critized for what you did to it.

Oh ....and you have to have arms that are 4' long so that you can hold it so far away from you(close to the camera) and claim your 2lb fish is a 6lb fish

It's just really a few buds razzing-mitazzing each other and having a good time.

The super straight arm shots... yeah, can be a bit much at times but it's actually kind of funny I find. It's that super excited angler effort that hopes to achieve the ultimate "booyah!!!" 8)

A little more than McBay all the time would be cool, but hizeck... if that's your fishery and everyone already knows it anyway, blab on. I wish you guys would go scout out more locations though, and then come back and post the names. Save me testing for myself down the road.

Fish on Wayne... fish on Garth. It's your world.

And to answer the question 444. I'd put your bass around 5 for sure. It's a nice catch, congrats you've had some good ones this year. It does suck you didn't get a better pic but I will tell ya this, you will likely get another chance in your lifetime for a fish like that or better. I do believe it would be a bit bigger than 24/7's, (who had some good bass this year too as well) but, I could also guess that your egos combined, divided by the sum of all fears, would still leave yas with "bigger heads" than any bass you'll ever catch. :P

you are not just talking about fishing but actualy do some and report about it.

true it can be hard on spots to post on the net..so many people look into the net..but hey dont see many boats there always the same guys.
