Have fun guessing the weight of my year PB!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Since I was the one holding this bass I will now say that my personal estimation for it was more than 5 lower than 6....somewhere between that.
A sure shot I guess.
Once again thanks for replying on this post. I respect all replies from all of you. The goal behind it today was to make FH alive and I think it did just that.

I believe all of you FH members are equally important. I keep on posting because of each and everyone of you taking the time to write a few lines. I really appreciate this.

Of course this bass was not my lifetime PB but it sure was lots of fun!!
No mather what kind of species you might be targetting there is one thing we all have in common and that is passion for this sport.......it is a great sport! what else to be said about it other than I live for it!

I like to have fun in here and all...and this is what it's all about

They don't get much bigger than this inside Mc Laurin. My biggest was a 6.3 (weighted by the way) a few years back. You can have a chance at a low 5....they might be a few 6.5 in there.....I saw one of them one time that came to the boat.....was in the high six for sure.

Back in 2005 I was mostly alone on Mc Bay and it was way more easy
to get quality basses and before my time there was Big Jim who said to me that Mc Bay was a six pounder factory back in the late 80's.

What to use and what color to use changes all the time but the patern seams to be consistant years after years. The different weed growth are allways the same years after years and the water color also changes inside that bay. I have been using spinerbaits, warms, jiggs, crank baits(wich got me that bass @ the friendly competion the other day)

About that friendly competition by the way....when B.A. took that picture of me ( the one where I look like I want to hide or something) I got that 4 pound bass maybe 5 mins lather....in a part of the bay they just had fished   You can go about fishing Mc Bay the way you want and that's fine but sometimes you have to do things differently in there....95% of anglers uses the same corridors over and over again.....and fish it the same way.....not a good strategy if you ask me.

T dot I got that big largemouth bass on finesse worm on a spot that Fippen was pounding the day before...and that he told me himself.

Here is a pic of a 6.3 pounder the biggest bass I ever caught inside Mc Bay.

Big Bass 444 wrote:The truth of the mather is this....try to pull such a bass in a body of water under soooo much pressure is quite an accomplishment!

Mc Bay is not Ontario Lake....it is a small body of water for the amount of boaters fishing there. Every years hundreds of boats will cruise on it in search of the big toads!!!

It take some skills in order to get the 4.5 pounders + on a regular bassis

It's more than just a "casting everywhere" Bay......there are some key spots on the spots like other body of water....and of courses that changes at different stages of the bass season.

I can tell you all to go and fish on that spot using that lure but that might be different in a few weeks though.

My key to sucess is the years I have spend in there. I keep a log since 2001 !! All my past outings are on paper....this is the edge I have on Mc Bay!......+ the instinct of course
The only thought I had on this thread was......... who actually writes this kind of stuff about themselves?

Thanks for the info. Have you ever tried going for a 5 fish limit there before? It would be interesting to see what your results would be.

You say you got a 6lbs bass there a few years ago. Based on that, and considering a growth rate of 1/2lbs / year, I wouldnt doubt if there is a 7lbs, or even a few 8lbs fish in there.

Have you considered throwing larger lures in that area or even swimbaits?

I too find it odd that some anglers go through the same routine day in day out, and expect different results.

:)

T-Dot

I did the 20 pounds limits per 5 fish on many occasion on Mc Bay....did a 22 1/2 a few times also....last time I did the 20 pounds per 5 fish was not too long ago and for me it was a personal record..... got all five in less than 1 hour 1/2!

About the 7 pounder.....saw 1 bass on Mc Bay a few years back....she never took the bait just follow it in less than 2 feet of water....water was clear at the time.....biggest bass I ever saw! I had the same experience with a pike on Mc Bay.....saw it verry well....was in the mid 20's for sure.

Where are those fish?????? still in Mc Bay....God knows!.....it is possible to hit a high six LMB on Mc Bay.......chances are verry slim though!

I uses what I think suits most my chances at the biggest bass in Mc Bay....
