2008 Bay of Quinte Adventure

2008 Bay of Quinte Adventure

Post by HitmanHill »

Just want to thank Mike for organizing another great Bay of Quinte Weekend. I haven't posted any reports lately and I hope I can still remmember how to post some pictures that I would like to share of our trip to the Bay of Quinte last weekend.

Unfortunately the weather was absolutely terrible and the rain was relentless and the wind nasty but to get out and share a few laughs and to have a couple of the guys catch some nice walleye was the icing on the cake. This is the third year that our group got together at Merland's to share another great weekend and although Mike and I didn't land any walleye we had a great time just the same.

We arrived at the B of Q on Friday morning, the sun was shinning but the wind had picked up and it was quite the job keeping the boat going straight but we fished for 5 to 6 hours with no sucsses so we headed to Merland's to check in and Randy and John were there already and John had landed this almost 12 lb walleye.

Nice fish! So we unloaded our gear shot the breeze, had a few pops and waited for Rob and Frank to come in from their day on the Bay. It was getting late but just before dark they arrive and Frank has caught a beaut of a walleye but just under the weight of John's fish but a nice fish just the same.

So some final measurements and it is determined to be just short in weight of John's fish but what two great looking fish. So we finish the day cleaning the fish and talking to BadgerShark, great seein you again Badger! We head into the cabin for a nice BBQ and play a little cards and talk about our day on the water for the next day.

Saturday we wake up to pouring rain and the wind has picked up once again but we decide it probably is going to be like this the whole day so we set out for a few hours and with no bites and being soaking wet head back to shore and call it a day. Randy and John fish for a few more hours and call it a day and an our or more later Steve, Rob and Frank head in soaking wet but had some luck with a small walleye and one of those sheephead. Such was the day.

We decide to try again just before sunset and it actually stopped raining for an hour or so but just as we were getting off the water the rain gods christened us again. I don't think my boat will dry out before Christmas. Another great BBQ for supper and we share a few more laughs and call it another day.

Sunday, Rob, Frank and Steve decide to give it another shot and although it isn't raining the wind seems to be quite strong so Mike and I and Randy and John pack up and call it a weekend. Hopefully Rob, Frank and Steve caught a few more before heading home.

Thanks again everyone for another great weekend!

Awesome report.

Too bad the weather didn't co-operate, but sounds like everyone still made the best of it.

Hey George,

Always a pleasure to fish with you. Regardless of whether we caught anything or not, it is always alot of fun to get out for a few laughs and some pops with good friends. Thanks again!

Hey George, good report and pics. It was good seeing you guys again and thanks for the pops. It's always a great weekend to get away with a group of friends regardless of the fishing. Getting a couple trophy eyes just tops it off.

Hey George, that was me you were speaking to at the hut, somehow I don't think you'll find Badger at Merlands.....

Again , it was good seeing you this year and I'm glad the boys had a good time, I know our crew did.

See ya next year!

Hey BTS, it is always great getting away and even though the weather was absolutely brutal and fishing was tough, the comaradiere is always great. Thanks again for dropping in with Tenline and also for the awesome trip this summer out on Lake Ontario catching those Rainbows. That I would have to say was the highlight of 2008. Thanks again!

Hi Hitman Hill;

We heard you guys on the radio talking about the fishing and the frequent "Fish On's" We were fishing west of you.

Glad we fished Fri and not Sat - looks like everyone got soaked.

Cheers

Hi HitmanHill - Good to hear from you again, and glad to see you caught a couple of nice fish. Your weather seems similar to what we had on previous Tue./Wed, only I think it was colder on Wed. 0 or -1 first thing in the morning - brutal fishing, but still good memories/friendships created. That what fishing is all about.

Hey Superdad, Erie Eyes and RJ, I saw lots of boats out there on Friday and Saturday and I try to wave to everyone. It was a brutal weekend on the water but great fun just the same.
