Weekend on local waters...

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Weekend on local waters...

Post by RJ »

Spent a day and a half on local waters this past weekend......it's truly the best time of year to be out.....one lake had 2 other boats....the other had one.....

Smallies on Saturday....we boated 17 on the day....numbers were down a bit from what we had hoped but the quality was there...all taken on Gulp Alive...

Sunday we decided to switch it up a bit and downrig for splake for half a day....we ended up with 3....no giants but 3 nice ones for the pan...all taken on smaller blades....

I love to hear of fellas winterizing boats!....more fish for us!...

Nice Smallies guys........

But are the fish cloned in that lake , because the fish in both pics are identical :? :?

Also don't hold them out and away from your body and real close to the camera like that ,,,,,,,,,,

24/7 and i have been told over and over again that this is a no no :P :P

Actually BA....it's funny you say that....we each got a 3.5...and the one in my one hand is 4 lb 9Oz....and my partners was 4 lb 4Oz....

I'll assume you think they are 2 pounders...you know them well...

Best smallies I've seen all year.
Quality pics, no doubt on the size either, look at the length compared to RJ's hands....that one might be pushing 24 inches in length.

RJ, year after year, I see you target splake, and i notice you kept them for the pan. Good eating fish? I never seem to hear any reports of anyone else fishing for them.

Anyways, great report!!!!

I personally don't eat them....I only eat white fleshed fish....but anyone I've given them to has raved about them....they are 100% put and take so I don't ever feel bad about keeping a few.....
