I agree 100% with RJ..

Fragile state, those are lifetime trophy fish.... That's not an understatement..

Ive been told brutal stories of Eyes being stacked upon row by row of 10lbs plus size being kept.. I say that locals may do it, they probably take it for granted since its in their backyard... We shouldn't because we drive over an hour if not longer to experience such thrills of landing a personal best eye.
I believe you guys mean no harm and those are amazing fish, and i congrat you very much.. good catch!!!

I just think we all smile alot more watching those beats swim away on a daily basis. So when we drive an hour or so we can all catch monster eyes.. I think the idea of catching the smallest fish is a great idea for quinte!
Seeing who can catch the best slot size shore lunch sized walleye makes things interesting. Of course within legal limit size..

Good job on the tournament and great post....

I am not here for a political or conservational debate RJ. After readin through some of your past posts I see that controversy finds you. This was just some guys getting together to share some stories and enjoy a couple days on the water. We didnt gather to muder the fishery. Do you throw back all the big walleye you catch immediatlly? This must have been a double right?

You seemed quite proud of the gathering that you were part of which you can read in the following.. And I qoute "Met up with a group of fellas down at Quinte this weekend for our annual Quinte trip....this is our 5th year in a row meeting up to put a hurtin on the migratory eyes....

The fishing was as expected with most boats landing at least 10 fish and some having big numbers....one boat alone took 19 on Friday....big fish of the weekend was a 12 pound 10 Oz eye.....a few giant freakshow Sheephead made their way aboard as well...."

You can read the rest in the topic "quinte wild weekend" if you would like

Thanks for your input BA.....

I guess noone else sees this as a bad idea for the fishery....which I am floored by.....

Thanks Landshark....yes it was a double if you actually read the report....

"A hurtin on the eyes".....yes...we hit them good....does that mean I kept any?....how about zero?

Again guys...I am not attacking you personally...

Landshark,

I think you took his response out of context, the problem with web boards is people take things out of context. Did u get permission to post his picture under your name? just a thought!?? I see no harm in an angler being concerned for the trophy fish. Id never post someones picture without permission.

You guys did fantastic down there!.....the reports lately have been lacking on all the boards and you guys dialed them in....1-3 fish days seem to be the norm in reports and you guys figured them out.....congrats for that for sure....

My first post on fishhawk HI all looks like a great group of ANGLERS. My name is Mike Martin and Im addicted to fishing!!! I'd like to take the time to thank Mike Weaver (LandShark) and Arnaldo my good big grinned buddy for an excellent weekend of fishing and another thank you to Eddy and Brian from JB's for an excellent ran tourny!
Thanks for the weekend boys!
And as far as the bs comments go I will be testament to saying all livewells were checked to make sure they were running well and I saw any fish that were dead get cleaned and no they didnt feed it to the seagulls!!!!
Mike :)

Nice fish guys and congrats on the win.

I can only imagine how much that win must pale in comparison to almost getting through the first page of comments before the inquistion got under way.

Im a local to Belleville and the fishery is stable! In the early season and mid summer this is a fishery that is in great shape for selective harvest.... but even as a local I wish the MNR would bring back the slot limit Ive witnessed it help the bay immensely!!! Dont take us wrong RJ we had a weekend tourny actually it was both mine and Arnaldo's first walleye tourny and landsharks first time fishing the BOQ and I dont blame him for keeping a trophy fish , I usually fish tournys where I can let my fish go instantly!!! Fish die when people fish we all need to support each other or else the bad guys like peta and such will get there wish!!!! Dont take this as an attack trying to state a point!

Wow......my comments were not to attack Big-A, Landshark or new member MartyCoo....it simply bothers me to see that such a tournament exists when everyone knows what happens to the fish....

I guess having an opinion on what's a good thing for the fishery in no longer welcome on FH.net......noone will ever convince me that a Quinte weigh-in style tournament is good for the fishery or that many if any of those fish survived....

Badger Shark....for a guy who's been to Quinte every weekend for the past month I'm surprised to see you think it's a good thing to see this going on....there goes a large number of large fish that you won't catch in future trips.....

Sorry if this gets people noses out of joint because I question things that I don't think are appropriate for our fishery....but too bad...our MNR is crap and severely underfunded....we kinda have to protect it ourselves....

If you don't get it, you don't get it...

RJ
