I have never fished trout but would give it serious consideration. I would want to be able to walk to the fishing spot since my sled is somewhat tipsy if pulled by machine. Also I would go if the lake is not very far.

On the same note, if anyone is new to ice fishing and would like to come out for the day and join the gang on the ice to see what it's all about, I have loads of extra tackle, rod/reel combos and tip-ups for a few to use. Don't be shy, I don't mind lending out a few things all I ask is for you to be respectful and to treat the gear as if was your own.

I know I am going to take flack for this one....

But here goes....

Hopefully those that go keep these lakes and how to get to them on the down low.

If not they'll be fished out after everybody tells 2 friends and they tell 2 friends.

Wasn't their complaints about this a few months ago????
Why the change of heart now?

 ....maybe we should go to Thistle Springs trout farm for an ice adventure 8) ....this way we promote their business, maybe get a discount and we save fragile little trout lakes from gettin' a beating!!!

good idea jamsers and tmh. that's why i was thinking of doing it at a roadside trout lake. not those little gems in the backhills.

there's a couple lakes on highway 41 that have trout. both rainbow and brook. well brook would be closed until the 1st of jan, but bows are open before that.

roadside trout???

Jamsers, there has always been the ongoing debate about naming different lakes and most specific, trout lakes. I don't think folks are to start naming off lakes in any way on this thread. A lot know what lakes have what fish in them, what the fishing is like and what lake would be good a good spot for a G2G and hopefully the few of us that do can decide on a lake we would all feel would be the right choice... There are many lakes that I would not mind sharing with everyone...And then there lakes I would never share :)

We won't have to worry about catching any fish if you and Almonte are racing up and down the lake

No more roadside trout

Knew it....and also from someone I'd expect it from.....

The point I am trying to make is that if everyone starts fishing it they no longer hold the magic they do...

These trout holes are hard to find and when you do it is nice to safe guard them.

I agree an ice fishing day is an awsome idea. So long as all F-H members agree ahead of time to not let the cat out of the bag etc.

This is not new...this has been stated before by people.

No reason why it couldn't be a walleye/crappie day on another lake.
Don't crap all over someone for their opinion.

Ok,

1) I am in favour of a G2G
2) I'd attend the G2G
3) I'd help people out on the ice for the G2G

All I did was state an opinion. You are free to agree with it or not.
But you guys know as well as I do that those lakes are all within close proximity to one another. In fact half of them are literally a stones throw from the other. Doesn't take much for people to start exploring.

The purpose (or at least as I saw it) was to introduce people to the sport and for people without gear to have a lash. Great!
If you go treat the lakes with respect and use a little discretion in who you tell...

That's all!
