Hey dropshot'r i always wanted to learnt this technique.

im a surface FANATIC ... but when the bite is off. go deep. this will be VERRY helpfull.

Thanks a bunch for the informative post. I tried dropshotting for the first time on 31 mile lake last year and had fantastic success, outfished my buddy's spinnerbaits 4 to 1, but I was having a hard time with my knot (sometimes the hook would be on upside down), the knot you showed will help me save lots of time in the upcoming season, and as someone else mentioned it's also a great ice fishing set up especially with 2 hooks on the line. Thanks again, there's a good chance my first O River lmb will be caught on a drop shot.

well done DS!

do you have much trouble with the line laying over and the hook snagging bottom? I am talking about really deep presentations in 35ft+. I have been experimenting wth raising the height of the hook with little success.

I have also used a football jig and gulp minnow instead of the sinker.

I'm assuming we are talking about drifting the St Lawrence. I make the tag end about 18-20in. long and most days use 1/2 to 5/8oz weights, occasionally I wish they made heavier weights. I have used this in 45+ FOW, when the river's fall wind gods allowed me to. I try to keep my presentation as vertical as possible feeding enough line so I can just feel the weight ticking rock. Some days with a good wind out of S/W, W or N/W you can get drifting a bit too fast and let too much line out to try to stay on the bottom. On those days it's a lot of reel in and drop back down. I'd like to get a drift bag this spring to deal with that.

Great description! This is one of those fishing techniques that fishers without sight could use to kick some sighted butt with...LOL
