Silver Lake/Black Creek, WOW! (Dial-Up Beware)

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Silver Lake/Black Creek, WOW! (Dial-Up Beware)

Post by BBRich »

AWESOME day today on the local lake, Silver Lake!! Started out chucking jig/spinner combos for crappie, and what do you know? I hook into my biggest pike this year!!

Image

Well we had him on a stringer because I wanted some smoked pike (it's been a while), and what do you know? We look back and he had bent both of the clips holding him there.. he was gone. Oh well, off to spawn again.

Later on, my buddy/partner for the day Eric hooked into a pike of his own, nearly the same size on a jig/spinner again!

After this, we finally got into a school of nice crappie, and took home around 15 for the frying pan.. Here's a couple..

Well after all of that awesome fishing on Silver Lake, we hit the Arbor for a hot dog, then what else was there to do? We went fishing! We hit Black Creek for a couple of hours, and although fishing was slow we picked up one nice channel cat on cherry corn and missed a few others of close to the same size..

WOW, All I can say is that it was an awesome day of fishing.. Never expected a pike on my ultra light, especially that big. What a fight!! The catfish fought even better though, awesome start and awesome end to perhaps the best fishing day of the year so far for me. I love it!

Bassstalker - You're right! there's now 4 of us in our group of fishing buddies with those glasses! The best 15 bucks I ever spent! They work better than my $220 Oakleys.

Salmon, we were out in my boat. I used to get quality fish like that from shore but now that the Lion's club has extended the park and made more shore access, the lake is getting beat to death from shore. Not that you can't get big ones from shore, I just prefer the boat tactic! I was thinking of trolling the shorelines one afternoon this week to see if I can't get another big pike.

Oh yeah, and I just found out that pike is big enough for an OFAH award! :D
