ice is melting

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

including this weekend, theres still 5 weekends left for ice fishing. Now there will obviously be alot of places were the conditions won't allow it, but theres always a few spots out there where you can get on to the overdrive walleye feed bag!!
Hands down last ice is the best time of year for walleye fishing, first ice being a close second.
I love drifting or trolling in my boat on a nice summer evening for sure, but I will fish anywhere and anyway I can while the seasons open for sure.

CB still has TONS of ice...Calabogie is losing it....about 12 inches...mostly 'white'...Rideau Hill camp only had about 10 or so like 2 weeks ago when I went....and after the cracks that I heard...I haven't been back.

Ice fishing is so much more fun....something about not being able to see what you're fishing over or what you've caught til it gets to the hole......All I know is that it's GUARANTEED time away from the 'To Do List'!!!!!

It's minus 15 or so, here in Gatineau and the high pressure won't be letting up soon so enjoy the sun and cold nights. Get out and enjoy the hardstuff until atleast April fools day

back to CityIt.........

when you hear the ice cracking and booming, it is MAKING ice, not going away.

Even Friday's torrential warm rains did not dent the ice around here. In fact with the temperature drop I believe we have more ice. We were on Indian Lake yesterday and I am guessing 18" of good ice, where there was only about 12" a week ago according to our host.

I reckon we have a minimum of three weeks of ice fishing left, and more if we can get out onto the hard water. (It tends to melt from the shoreline first). And last ice is generally the best of the year for size and numbers! :D
