Gar Mount

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Gar Mount

Post by Markus »

I picked up my 2 gar mounts today and they look fantastic. Simon's Taxidermy in Port Rowan does the work for me and boy o boy he does a great job.

The picture doesn't do it justice. The paint job is so detailed! He did a great job.

The 2nd one is a gift for my cousin who spent the day with me when we caught these critters.

My only disappointment from Muskrat was that I didn't catch a gar.
I really wanted to see one up close.

Big O, i've gotten 3 fish (one's a gift for my cousin) and 2 ducks done this year. I keep telling myself they are for the walls in my fishing lodge I'll own someday. :P I plan on getting 1 more done this year. I want a 10lb eye or a monster muski. I'm hoping to get one this fall. if I don't, I have big rainbow buck in the freezer to do.

Markus...I have a 12 lb eye on my wall you can borrow for your lodge if you can't get one yourself  .. Never seen a gar for real. How you you get the hooks out of a mouth like that? I'm still a bit nervous with pike after getting my thumb shredded.

Nice. A 12 lb eye would be nice for sure.

The gars teeth are razor sharp. They have two rows on the bottom and two rows on the top. You wouldn't want one of them to clamp down on your fingers!

My daughter cut her finger just feeling them last night.

He's only 35 inches. I wish I would have gotten a bigger one. But it was my first and a very memorable day fishing with my family. The second one is even smaller, 30 inches.

AND don't laugh at me for wanting to have a lodge! I know that's everyones dream, but I'm gonna make it happen. I can't see myself living any other way. :D

Markus....sorry, wasn't laughing about the lodge, just teasing about walleye fishing. Betcha 1/2 of the people on this forum would love to own one as well. Just think, if you do get one you would have over 800 clients instantly.
