Fishing this weekend?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Fishing this weekend?

Post by Tip-up »

Hey Hawkers,

Who is going fishing this weekend and what are you targeting? With only a month or so left in the season it's about that time to start scanning some late ice hot spots. I was thinking of sticking close to home on Saturday to fish Petrie Islands for walleyes and crappies then(Depending on the weather) fish for jumbo perch on Sunday.

It's going to be a gorgeous weekend, and a shackless one at that :D How many of ya are taking advantage of the warm conditions, sunny skies on Saturday, and speaking of rain on Sunday  Hoping to get some revenge on the walleyes as I was only able to scrap one puny sauger on the ice Saturday.

Might even get out for a few hours tonight and tomorrow afternoon :D

I don't think I could make myself fish walleye at petrie now.

I don't keep many fish, but I just know I'd catch a 17 incher and get mad for having to throw it back

Going to try to get out Saturday for some whitefish. Still haven't caught one yet.......

Off hunting lakers.

Perch and Pike

Post by joseph »

Going to try for pike with a large dead minnow on a tip up. Set up two of them, and jig for perch and anything else below us. Going to the same spot as last week. My wife and I hope to stay for most of the day at Buckham bay.

Ice picks?? You mean ice cleats too

Funny how you would consider the tip-up an oldschool technique RJ not counting all the new advancments of the sport, ice fishing lures and rods and reels. I am always using them for pike and playing around with different variations of how to present my baits...Has to be one of my favorite ways of catching fish through the ice.....FLAG! Guess oldschool is still the way to kick it

You wan't 'big' pike, go fish in Quebec...it's all big pike once you cross the bridge and you don't have to go far..bigger everything actually.

Good luck everyone :!: :D
