tying mono to braid

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Fireline is a good stuff but a pain to tie a knot with. If you are using the mono as a backfill on the spool, I've had pretty good luck with the blood knot. (pic in the knot link). Held well, but never did have to test it with a fish ripping line off the spool past the knot.

NOFISH,

If you're using the mono as a leader, my preference is to use a barrel swivel as the connection point. If it's connecting mono backing to your fireline you might try a nail knot.

NOFISH,
I use a uni-knot to uni-knot tie my mono to braided. I some times run 20ft leaders so a barrel swivel will not work.
