Brook trout this weekend

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Brook trout this weekend

Post by oldman1 »

Three of us went to two lakes where we almost always get at least a fish or two. This time however there was absolutely nothing. I'm curious how others may have made out. It would be interesting to know wether or not brookies everywhere were not biting so that it could be attributed to something (open to suggestions...barometric pressure, the moon, meltwater, St. Patricks day...).

So how did you make out ?

Thanks

I hope so.

Maybe there will be a few left for us when the soft water returns. ;-)

I would try baiting your lure with a hook. :P
Just kidding.
I went out Sunday morn. and found the trout to be real shy. Caught only one fish and lost two if you didnt set the hook first bite they were gone.
Would not have got one if I wasnt using a fish finder. I could see them come in and look but then they were gone. Had to pull the lure away and get them to chase it or no bite.
I will be picking up a barometer soon as I have been told this greatly affects the bite.
Garry?

Oh yeah left early as the face was starting to burn, march sun madness. Not going through what happend last march worst burn of my life.

It was definately slow to say the least :( ....only caught 1 all weekend and missed 3....S.M.05 is right about setting the hook the first time....only one chance and if you miss, they were gone!!.....I blame the full moon that we had last Tuesday... 8) ..we'll see if the bite picks up later this week....taking Thursday and Friday off for a bit more troutin' :D
