Reel Lubrication ?
Reel Lubrication ?
Hi guys,
Well since both my teams (Sens and Leafs) appear to be out of the NHL playoffs I will be spending more time after the panfish in April. I am getting my arsenal ready now. I have mostly Diawa and Shimano spinning reels. I am wondering what you guys recommend as a good general reel lubricant for inside of this type of reel.
Thanks,
Dave

There is a link for reel maintenance somewhere I'll try to find it. You need oil and grease to upkeep a reel . Most tackle store would have some type of lubricant.

reel cleaning
Hi there, I use Simple Green to wash and remove grime from the parts and reels. Grease the gears, not lots, just enough. Some drag washers also require a bit of grease. Oil your worm gear, handle and bearings. For the bearings, soak them in lighter fluid, let them air dry then apply one drop of yellow rocket fuel (oil). For the spinning reels, grease lightly the sliding mechanism and the drag washers. If you're not familiar with the reel parts, check lakeforktacklerepair.com. Send me an e-mail if you need more info. been in the business for 11 years, know a little bit about it.
