Berkley B1 - Pre-Fish Period Now Extended

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Bass addict,If I may correct you on your statement

Its is not true that bass can weather this sort of pre season fishing.
A recent study by the Ohio DNR demonstrated that during nest protection of lake erie smallmouth. The fish was taken from the nest site, gobies ascended on the nest devastating all eggs or fry found.
It was also observed that packs of gobies surrounded almost all nest to be in an advantageous position to feast on the nest in case of separation from the protecting male
I believe Ohio will be legislating against pre and pre mature pawning season fishing pushing further back the opener

as far as the pre practice event, well let just say 800 000 anglers are not gonna be happy that 100 guys get a special privilege.
I suspect within the QMNR things are being shaking up as we speak as to who permitted because not many departments were aware and dont seem to be supportive of this.
essentially a permission to poach, which is not sitting very well from within the ranks.

Bass season has always opened the 3rd Friday in june, quebec calculates as of the first Friday last year and years previous it occurred if it were the 2nd but their calculations and weekly calendar date is different by when in commences.Normally correlates with fathers day weekend

Ofah cannot do anything other than file a complaint

I recommend you email and file a complaint to the following

It's only a calander date. I wonder how many of those 800,000 anglers will decided to keep their boats on the trailer if the bass are still on their beds on opening day.

they have been talking about extending the bass season in Canada for years .It is unusually short compared to other species !! Do you know how much money sponsors and tournaments give back to our local fisheries ?I think your just jealous Marc to be honest. Those who can't complain about it

I think this is good. It's opens the door to an early catch and release season....which I think would be great in ON and PQ.
I agree.

In recent years New York State has implemented a catch and release season in several of it's major bodies of water. It is well known that NYS spends a great deal of time and $$$ on it's fisheries, far more than Ont or Que do. Maybe they know something.....

that money spent is what helps stock the lakes and allow for extra season to hit 'em while their spawning.

I think everone is interested in a longer season
prob here is the way this went about
BT1 new the season and prefish schedule
leaving very little time to prefish
hence lack of or lower entries than anticipated
they talk,???talk to Ministry and voila extended season
regs have be published and distributed by Jan.How can they change this year?
BT1 new the regs and still scheduled the tourney aroud it.
Bull
Put it on the table for next year and arrange it accordingly.
Just in case,I'm not a tourny Guy,and I'm not jealous
I just think what ,how this is happening is Bull

Anyone feel like heading out to Lac St-Louis on Friday, June 19th, 2009 to do a little bass fishing? I just may have a spare seat.

I'm sure the B1 guys we'll lead us right to the fish.

The B1 event is a serious effort to boost bass tournaments to the highest level in Canada. We have everything in this country to make this appen. I am more than happy to see that we have some support to make this event a success. The Minister of Natural Resources is a proof of that support to make B1 a full circle tournament. Saying this I am fully confident that this high authority has taken all mesures to make sure that ''conservation mathers'' in this case would be the main priority here.

No need to comment on some of the responses here....not worth it!

.....like I said erase the tread...things will just get worst and make this site look bad!

All the allegations made directly or indirectly in this tread and Ben's pre-fish tread towards Berkley, the organisations of B1 and other tournaments organisations will no doubt hurt Fish-Hawk.net

Thanks to the same individuals as usual!
