Blue Pike

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Blue Pike

Post by Peter_M »

Last year I caught a 5 pound blue/silver pike at a lake near Calabogie.

I'm wondering how rare these pike are. Anybody else catch one?

They are quite rare and I did catch one on the Ottawa 2 yrs ago I know I have the pic somewhere, I'll find it and post it.

It was about 36" long and crushed a topraider...,litterally.....it broke the seam on it..

Thanks Pete!

Was talked into it from a friend. He knows who he is and he is right.

With that said! Bring on the softwater! Bring on 1st Carp! Bring on the Gar!

Not going to fish Musky as much this year. Wanna spend more time exploring lakes up at my other house. Got some invites for Sharbot and Palmerston....also many for Charlston from Mr.Hill and Chipp.... We didn't fish much together last year...but we hope to this year. He finally got his trolling motor and 2nd electronic d/rigger!!!!

You should join us Pete. I'm sure you and Hill haven't fished in a while...that 18ft, 175hp monster should be rarin to go in 2 weeks time!

Some trips to the camp up at Big G&*L lake in order????

They are some crazy guys that is for sure!!!!
We started fishing in 05! A few outings for lakers. He's pretty good I must admit! I'm sure he's taken ya out....seems that's all he likes to fish! LOL!
I think I got him out for skies once! in 3 years!

No the reason for laying off the ski's for a bit is that looking back over the last 2 season its all I really focused on. I caught a good number but put in ALOT of hrs....to the point my wife won't fish with me if she hears..."musky" LOL!

Sorry for the thread hijack Pete_M!

Back to blue pike.

On another note, I caught a grey phase??? pike on the Bonny area of the Upper O. That was pretty cool also! I was fishing for musky with another MCI guy at the time. He thought it was neat also...

Walleyeman....

There are blue phase type pike. They just have a blueish tinge to them.
They're pretty cool. I know ya fish with your folks alot. Get them to take you to Andrew Haydon Park in Nepean. The one I caught wasn't far from the big rock pile that extends out past the marina.

If you have your canoe get as close to Shirleys Bay as you can..(Don't go in it!!! You'll be fined by the RCMP and MP's as its off limits due to potential UXO's)

Alot of species there my friend.
