rain bow trout trivia

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Once again....old news.....

It's because they've had pen failures at the aquaculture facility up there.

Thanks for all the info on the Superior - North Channel area.
I have fished Batchawana years ago.... other than that, I don't really know the areas - so this was a good education for me.

Fun little trivia - for sure!!

Hope you find the Ottawa area to be enjoyable, quite different than your home turf - but Eastern Ontario is a fabulous place to live and fish...

Take Care

Tom Johnson of the MNR has done a lot of work on farm escapees and native (introduced) bows. Along the north shore and the north side of the island you get escapees, but they can't swim well, are too fat, too small of a tail to swim up stream and they have low reproductive rates. If you're on the south side of manitoulin, the main portion of your catch is mostly native rainbows all of the time  ...atleast, that was 3 or 4 years ago. I'm under the impression most of the farms are on the northside of the island.
