Getting fed up with hearing this

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Re RJ, I thought we had high paid civil engineers to plan this kind of stuff, to me this is not just fumbling but also bungling, stumbling, tumbling, fungeling and mungeling by the government. Im just not sure which level of gov to blame.
Maybe all three levels :?:

sewage in the ottawa

Post by bassman3840 »

I would like to suggest that all the fishing clubs band together & explore the the idea to file a class action suit against the city I am sure we have some lawyers who are fisherman who would advise us. We have to do something & fast. Those idiots on council think this is a big joke. suggestion would be appreciated.

Bureaucracy from all three levels I bet.......likely by the time they got approval and funding for the project way back when it was already unable to handle the load at the time it was complete.....

Talk to someone who works for the GVT....sometimes it takes months for a memo to get approval from the 3 people involved in it....if one doesn't like it....start over....issue is finding a time when they are available with their 6 weeks holidays and a week of personal days and 14 sick days and and and and.......now you've got me wound up....

I don't expect much to come of it...other than the media sensationalizing it.....they hate O'Brien....this was going on the whole time the short bucked tooth fella was there too....

I was once told about a major spill in Arnprior....3 full weekend days of pure raw sewage floated directly into the river....because it is such a large body of water it was no more than someone who took a leak in your swimming pool...... and we've all done that...

sewage problems

Post by Joey Rat »

There are country's that would kill for what we have and too many people take it for granted.

RJ hit the nail on the head, the city has simply out grown its sewer system. We are looking at hundred's of millions of dollars and years of torn up roads to make it right.

I'm not saying it shouldn't be done but we have to be prepared to pay for it in tax dolars and frustration. Other communities up and down the river have to do the same thing.

I think we all need to do what we can to preserve the river and encourage it's clean up.

Joco's thread about cleaning the river banks is a good place to start. I haven't quite figured out the time and date but I'll be there to help and I'll also write my MP, MPP and Councillor.

Make it an issue folks.

greens creek

:D Go to green's creek and you can see the problem....

For the past few years the city has been increasing the capacity of this site. The problem is with some of the older infrastructure which is not contected to the main trunk......at times of heavy rain the capacity of the sewer system becomes overloaded and that is how most of the sh(&T bypasses the main line and overflows into the river,,,I used to see this a lot when I lived in britannia..There are 3 big outlets that flow into the river below the rapids and above westboro beach.....at times you coud see toilet paper stuck to the grate that stopped someone from walking into the pipe, as if anyone would want to. Waithey did was build 3 big catch basins to keep some of the excess from going into the water...it's expensive and they have to be maintained as they are sedimentaion ponds....did you know that mud lake used to be where the city used to put it's sh()t. I used to get a kick out of letting people know that fished it for mud pout what the lake used to be for.......

If you go below parliament hill there is a big outlet that when it rains heavy raw sewage flows out of it and it's not from the politicians and there are alot of these outlets through out the city...thats what they used to do with the waste..dump it into the river untreated....

the problems with sh(*t going into the river last summer was cause some idiot left a valve open and drained a sedimentation pond, he got the axe....

When lived in britannia i fished lac des chenes a lot and I noticed how it got cleaner over the years.....Why?????? because quyon got a sh*&t plant and stopped dumping raw sewage into the water that was only 20 years ago,,, I suspect this has been going on for sometime as the past few years the clarity of the water below ottawa has become less and the crap floating around has increased...I think they only report half the spills...either way it's a sh((ty situation....and will continue until they get more capacity at greens creek.....

I think more sh((t has gone into the river since that moron, cretin was elected mayor and he hasn't a clue how to run a city, he should go back to the private sector... light rail the bus strike conflict of interest hiring relatives and advisors quitting on him to name a few issues with this mayor....don't get me goin on politics

Once the city figures out the sports team, the OC transpo deal then and only then will they start thinking about sewage so that should be around 2050.

I had a great idea and that was to fine them $1 for every litre they dump into the river and use it to fix the problem.
Catch and release them all

I'm referring to the fact we don't pay your ridiculous City of Ottawa taxes to fund those cretins at City Hall Joco.....

I'm well aware of the state of the Jock River....I grew up on it...

Tis sad and frankly damn ignorant, given Canada's and for that, most of the developed world's stance on the strains on the planet.

Shoudn't someone be held resposnsible? :x

I fell off my chair when I read that and I haven't been you know what...

there's enough sh*(t that comes out of that cretins mouth and I'm glad I don't pay for his salary....

The bottled water is a great idea and I think that is why the city is stopping using bottled water at city hall, they say it is for economic reasons...

I think some one should start the PETRIE ISLAND BOTTLED WATER FACTORY and supply city hall with a free supply of freshly bottled Ottawa river water.....just use dark colored bottles like beer bottles and give them free to the council during their meetings.....watch the fecal content in the councilors increase and then lock the bathrooms......sh&*t will fly       but they might get the message then...

I wonder if at this time of year with some ice still left does the sewage go straight onto the ice or straight into the water cause it would make a great picture all that sh(*t on the ice.....it just goes to prove there's a lot of sh^&t happennig in ottawa

Fish hawk has so many members some must be lawyers or be friends with one. Hopefully some will weigh in here with some advice on where we should start something.
Strangely they dont seem to mind wasting money on global warming which most people realize is a hoax , while MILLIONS of litres of raw sewage is flowing into the Ottawa at the same time.
They suck, they cant get their priorities straight and probably never will. Hopefully we can do something here.
Lawyers please weigh in
