1st Muskie of 2004
Well I caught my first muskie of the year on the Rideau River! Was using an 8 inch live sucker hooked on a quick strike rig!! Awsome way to start the year!!! Im guessing she was 48+ inches!! Had the measuring tape on her and just before it went to her tail she took off! She's still swimming boys!!!!! Go get her!!!!
All I can say is absolutely incredible!!!

dude ransome,
That's one sweet first muskie of the season. Do you think those big girls will still be nibbling in September. I've never fished muskie, but I'd love to give it a try. I've got a buddy who lives in Merrickville, and if I stayed with him a day do you think I might find a few of them there fishes nearby.
Man, that big girl fills my mind with new possibilities for my next trip back down to Perth this fall.

Nice fish!! I was Muskie fishing on the Rideau on Saturday in the same area you caught yours (by the looks of it) and a few other areads that have been productive for me in the past. As usual when I go Muskie fishing I didn't catch a Muskie, just a bunch of pike. Although I did see about a 15 - 20lber swim under the boat. To make matters worse, I lost my Grim Reaper spinner (ouch $$$). It seems I only catch Muskie when I am Bass fishing so I guess I will have to wait a few weeks! Anyway, I have been thinking of trying sucker minnows and was wondering what a quick strike rig is?
Nice starter Ransome
Way to go Ransome... nice fish for sure. I think that is the same fish I saw tanning on the sand there a few weeks back but she had a red bikini on with a wicked thong...
Oh well I don't get out enough.... that Muskie course is paying off for sure and Bill will be proud.
