like everybody else here....really, really, really jealous, thanks now i wont be able to sleep for the next little while....too much brookies going on in the head.. brookie over-load??

not sure what i would've done, if i were in your shoes....like you said it was bleeding bad...so mount it or eat it..... not sure....probably mount it.

i like the idea of calling the Ministry and see what they could do with it. they probably would of check it's age, there's a certain bone/cartilage, that they can count how old a fish is. it's near the ear.

again nice fish, enjoy the 15 minute meal, 10+ minute dump for that one fish that probably took 7-8 years if not more to grow!!

At this point fellas......no point in pounding the fact the fish was not released....fish die when hooked and are un-releasable....it happens...

Glad you decided to eat it at least BA.....safe to assume you have no use for taxidermy? That truly was a special fish.

I am trying find that size someday but it will be ontario side!!!! How big is the salamanders seem about 5-7 inches or i can be wrong smaller than that??? :oops: 8) ps I thought you find full of rolls of film inside big fish :lol: 8)

That's one awesome fish , worth a mount for sure.
Too bad it end it up on dinner table but I do understand feeding the family is important !!

good luck trying to get a strait answer with these guys.... they look to be around 5" tho.

Many years ago I caught a freakishly huge resident stream brown from a tiny trickle.....the headwaters of Salt Creek north of Colborne. It was 30" long but maybe only 10 lbs. with a head like a Chinook. It was stuffed with huge bullfrogs in various degrees of decomposition.

It was living in the only place it could in barren cow pasture stream.....a small depression below the wash and turbulence of a 24" culvert. Certainly that fish left its refuge only under cover of darkness, sliding downstream over tepid flows barely covering its back to nab a big croaker. It must have been 15 years old or more and for such a survivor it was a sad end. I kept it and after showing it off I gave it away.....not sure if they ate or fertilzed tomato plants with it.

Absolutely a beauti fish and thanks for sharing that and all your great pics. Just goes to show that its often worth the extra time and work to get way back into a lake that seldom see's anyone.......Greg.
