I'm leaving Fish-hawk....

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

>Shallow water exposed to the mid day sun
>match the spoons to the colour of the water.....i.e. dark stained water=dark stained spoons

NOTE***** not sure if this works in Ontario but it works in Northern Saskatchewan and Alberta..... If you arrive in a shallow bay and you see BIG pike sunning themselves and they seem disinterested..... .... chase them around a bit ... A LOT..... then wait a few minutes and try throwing the spoons at them again .....

This was a trick told to me many years ago when I expresse3d my frustration to a fellow angler AFTER my outpost trip... the following year, I experienced the same thing... and tried what was suggested.... IT WORKED... seemed like we had to wake up the fish... get them agitated... before they would bite.

Bobber.. I figured the title was the best way to get my questions exposed given the current shinanigans happening here.

Badger.. I am seriously considering the name change.. Lol.

Now a couple more questions.

Where to buy northam spinner baits?

Pre-tied fluro leaders (pike)?

And now a simple one for most: how to joing leader to lead core?

Thanks again.

hey luke the best way i know,

is to remove about 6 inches of the lead core, just the lead and not the sheathing.

once you removed the lead, by braking it off, tie a double uni knot, and that should work.

hope this helps,

That is how I do it...but make sure your piece of sheathing is totally in one piece..no frays to it.

Uni knot Luke...but I leave the leadcore on.You have to then be careful tightening your knot to make sure the knot slides down and doesn't get caught up in the leadcore.Tie first knot leader to leadcore, then leadcore to leader.

Once your knot grips the sheath and lead...it won't let go.It is hard to tighten the knot with-out it catching the rest of the sheath but once it does go tight it won't let go.Hope it's not too freaky for you Peter!!! You know what happened the last time you were feeling freaky...or maybe that was frisky!!!

I find that the Albright knot works best for this application (and it's easier to deal with if your hands are cold out in the boat), but I first pull the braid down about 5" to expose the lead and then break it off...

First night staying at ivanhoe river... "supposed" to be fishing top secret speckle lakes on the Friday..... where they don't normally take clients..

Next Seven days are at Nemegosenda........ with the possibility of maybe a day or two on other lakes..... Depending on how busy the two planes are.

First time on a fly-in trip........only 3rd time on a plane.......fatluke doesn't like to leave mother earth's surface.......

Thanks again to all for the tips and info. Very helpful and much appreciated.

Fatluke, the worse part of flying especially a bush plane is not knowing if you are going to take off, once you are up though you are sure to come back down!!!!
When hell freezes over, I'll be there icefishing!!!
