>Shallow water exposed to the mid day sun
>match the spoons to the colour of the water.....i.e. dark stained water=dark stained spoons
NOTE***** not sure if this works in Ontario but it works in Northern Saskatchewan and Alberta..... If you arrive in a shallow bay and you see BIG pike sunning themselves and they seem disinterested..... .... chase them around a bit ... A LOT..... then wait a few minutes and try throwing the spoons at them again .....
This was a trick told to me many years ago when I expresse3d my frustration to a fellow angler AFTER my outpost trip... the following year, I experienced the same thing... and tried what was suggested.... IT WORKED... seemed like we had to wake up the fish... get them agitated... before they would bite.
Uni knot Luke...but I leave the leadcore on.You have to then be careful tightening your knot to make sure the knot slides down and doesn't get caught up in the leadcore.Tie first knot leader to leadcore, then leadcore to leader.
Once your knot grips the sheath and lead...it won't let go.It is hard to tighten the knot with-out it catching the rest of the sheath but once it does go tight it won't let go.Hope it's not too freaky for you Peter!!! You know what happened the last time you were feeling freaky...or maybe that was frisky!!!
I find that the Albright knot works best for this application (and it's easier to deal with if your hands are cold out in the boat), but I first pull the braid down about 5" to expose the lead and then break it off...
Fatluke, the worse part of flying especially a bush plane is not knowing if you are going to take off, once you are up though you are sure to come back down!!!!
When hell freezes over, I'll be there icefishing!!!
If you can't stand behind our troops,
Please feel free to stand in front of them!!!
Experience is that marvellous thing that enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again
