Big Water = Big Fish

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Nice gator!!!!!
Last weekend the spinnerbaits weren't working on the Ottawa until we started just burning them back to the boat letting it break the surface a few times on the way in. Then we picked up about 10 but none anywhere close to that size.

It really makes you wonder how 'rare' fish of that size are once you get up river a little ways. Over the winter a 19lbs and 17lbs fish were weighed in at two separete ice fishing tournaments on the Ottawa between Bryson and Fort-Colounge(I posted the links here). Proof of both fish were in the local paper with picture. I have seen three fish(pike) with Anthony follow baits and other hooked species to the boat while targeting them we guessed had to be 'at least' 15lbs+. Normally I just target them for the first couple weeks after opener before they get go deep like Matt mentioned..then they can be tuff to catch.

Numerous pike between 10 and 13lbs were caught in our boats since 2004 (9 to be exact) excluding a 14lb'er I caught opener 08' and the 15 I caught back in 2005. All caught within 20 minutes of Westmeath too!

Now Matt posts a story of another true beast(s) 8) Really not surprized at all.

Going to try out a another area ths weekend and chuck more plastic for them this time.

Anyone else going to be out and about around Westmeath this weekend?

I think what Tip-Up is trying to say between the me's and I's is congrats on a great catch.

Matt, nice fish. Big pike are a special fish, you're very fortunate to have caught one of that quality. Well done.

....Monster pikes in the Ottawa River allways brings me back to Collins'story about monster 20 pounder pikes shooked at the boat for a quick release or monster basses jumping behinds boats on a steep point while musky fishing with the lads.........dude with your stories I believe that in Ottawa ''yes we can" get 20 pounder pikes and near 8 LMB!!

There will be 40+ boats in the area on Sat for the annual Lions Club Blind Anglers Tournament.

If you see the Blind Fishing Boat with the trolling motor down, stop by and say hi to Karma and myself.
