This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

We made it home safe and sound. The drive back was a bit uncomfortable...everyone was adjusting to their new red skin.

I have to say, I had a blast. MT was a first class host. Our day starated out with MT picking me up at the campsite. He arrived with a fresh hot timmies for Pink Lady and myself. We loaded up and motored to the lauch site to register and hit the water. We blasted of and MT headed to a feeder river where we started to fish.

My goals were simple for the weekend. To weigh in 6 fish and to prove MT's livewell can support fish. :P

We got right into them, but they were all on the small side. We tried one other spot, but could only locate the little ones. We caught a pile of cats and a few rockbass anand it was great watching the big gar cruise around. The weather couldn't have been nicer.

We kept running into one other team through out the day. Here's a shot of them under power without life jackets encrouching in our space.

 Seriously though, FH and bobber helped guide us around the water and offered up some great company for the morning.

Our final weight of 9.?? was pitiful, but enough to put ourselves 2nd in the mini fish-hawk derby. No cash, but a little bragging rights for MT.

It was great seeing everyone again and meeting a few new people as well and a big congrates HOF for his finish. Also, it was very nice for so many of you to make the drive back to our campsite and share some conversaton and make us fell so welcome.

Finally, I big thanks to MT for putting up with me for the day. I will return the favor this season and can't wait to hit the water with you again.

Glad to hear you had a good time Markus, sorry I didn't get to stop and visit, we were out after lakers. I am very glad to hear the MT's livewell can hold fish, since we are fishing BAOO together this year.

That's a horrible picture....next time at least yell out SMILE! :D

and don't get me going on the "encrouching on our spot" thing! :D If it wasn't for that darn drift... :? :D ....and as far as the life jackets are concerned.....ooops!

Seriously though, I have to tell ya that I had a great time on Saturday, even though we couldn't find the big cats. We knew they were there, but unfortunately, they weren't in the spot where we were.

Alas, the day came to an end early for Fish-Hawk and Bobber. We had to leave at 2:00 since I promised my son I'd take him to a Lynx ballgame, and I wasn't prepared to do any explaining that day. Unfortunately I did not get to meet Pink Lady and the others that showed up for the weigh in and after party. Sorry, perhaps next time we'll be able to stay longer.

Anyway, I hope all had a great day, and I look forward to fishing yet another day.

Thanks ( MARKUS) sorry I could'nt make it back to your camp site, I would have gone but got a phone call with a bit of bad news. It would have been nice to get to know a little bit about all you guy's over a couple of beer's, (maybe next time). Sound's like you had a great time, and that's what really matter's. Is that the first time you've fish the Ottawa river? Do you plann on comming back next year?

PS: that's a great photo, maybe you can blackmail them into giving you a new hat! It was nice to meet you and thanks again!

HOF, that was my first time on the Ottawa River. From what I saw and heard, I'm guessing it may be one of SE Ontario's premier fishing area.

I do plan on coming back for sure. I'd like to take RJ up on his offer and do a little muski fish. I wouldn't mind flipping for a few bass, just to say I did and the amount of big gar I saw cruising has peeked my interest as well.

I believe my next trip to your neck of the woods will be next week. I'm planning on hitting Charlseton lake with muskimagnet for lakers. Seems like a common lake for some of the guys on the board, maybe I'll see a few of them there.

I just wanted to say how great it was meeting everyone. Everyone keep comenting on how far we came, but it's not that far of a drive! We really really enjoyed Fitzroy, Mark is still raving about the Ottawa River, the weather was beautiful and it was great meeting everyone.

Thanks for everyones hospitality and friendly greetings. I can't wait to come back up again. Hopefully next time I can enjoying a little fishing too.

Let me chime in ...

5am call placed to Markus' cell phone. Hear some grumbling in background as PinkLady and girls shift in their captains chairs. Markus however sounds peppy and ready to go.
6:15 show up with Timmy's in hand, and there is much rejoicing. The girls wipe the cobwebs from their eyes just long enough to send daddy off with a smile.
7am, shaking hands and kissing babies with fellow hawk-talkers.
7:01, blast off. Head up the Miss, co-incidentally right behind team Fish-Hawk. Seems great minds think alike.

Fished the day with Markus and in close proxmity to FH and Bobber. In other words, there was no lack of chatting in the boat and between boats. Team FH graciously offered to navigate for us a we jump to another spot on the Ottawa. And I really wanted to say thanks (as does my lower unit). Could have been an expensive run as I don't know the treacherous waters of that end of the Ottawa.

Some highlights include Markus' black socks and sandal combo, team FH's secret walleye bait (liver???), floating sunscreen and stinky balls in a rubber glove .... and the list goes on.

End of day saw team Markus/Livewell finish second in the FH mini-derby, behind FH and Bobber no less. Nice to meet FF and reacquaint with the others. HOF, sorry I didn't see ya (you're gonna need a hat :) )

Off to camp to see Pink Lady, Hailee and Spencer. Some pretty girls, and thank goodness they look like their mom. :P Glad to hear the girls got to go horseback riding. Pink Lady, next trip down, you fish with me and Markus can go riding with the girls.

Lastly, my apologies for inviting the Yogi's back to your camp. Hope it didn't cause too much trouble. :(

Can't wait to do it again. Markus, thanks for putting up with me for the day. It was a pleasure being your netman. I hope to return the favor some day. (Like I said folks, I didn't invite him down for his good looks  ). You are welcome in my boat any day of the week.

I am man! The world is my toilette!

Could have picked a better place to powder my nose I suppose. :( But I'd say the boys ran some pretty solid interference though.

Another great outing with Hawktalkers.

Marcus, Good to see you again and a pleasure to meet your family. Thanks for the invite back to your campsite. MT livewell's shortcut seemed to make it a longer drive than I had expected but it was scenic.

RJ, Kim, Bacon and Big O, I enjoyed fishing within laughing distance of you for the day. Great company and very entertaining.

Floatfishin, It was a pleasure to fish with you for the day but I was counting on you to catch bigger cats. Oh well there's always next year.

Good to meet some hawktalkers that I had not met before and always a pleasure to see the rest of you.
