Well, I'm at $80 bucks so for on 3 different home-made stabilizers for my 12' canoe. They all work great when not moving, however, I am still trying to figure out how to make two very hyrdodynamic pontoons for trolling with my 2hp ... Please keep bringing forward some ideas. The best outriggers I have seen are from Kayrak.ca from BC. But they like $800 bucks ... Anyway, curious to see what other ideas come to this thread.
hey stetco maybe you want to sell a pair ......then i won't have to make my own. i just want them for when we are at a stand still so fishing from the canoe is more stable for the wife..... don't need them for when we are on the move.......... she is very nervous so hoping these things make her more confy!!
What kind of canoe do you have? Is it a naturally 'tippy' feeling model? Maybe she just needs to spend more time in it to get used to it.
Also, if you lower the seats in your canoe a little (1" makes a HUGE difference), it will feel much more stable. You would be very surprised how much of a difference this makes.
it's a 16 ft fiberglass and in now way am i prepared to undo any parts off it ,,,,,,,,,,, its just tippy and the wife is nervous so using some pontoons would make it way better for her !!
I put on these neilson outriggers a couple years ago...
They make the canoe as stable as a pontoon boat... They are on small shock absorbers - I swear by them.... keeps it stable even with 2 huskies running back and forth..
