Lac Pemichangan - Bass or no bass?
Lac Pemichangan - Bass or no bass?
Just wondering if this lake holds bass? It seems our travel agent (sister in law) got the lakes mixed up and we are on this lake this weekend instead of Lac Ste.Marie.
Is there anything else I should know about this lake? Any strange restrictions?
Any info would be appreciated.

Hi Guys
I spent most of my time fishing the southend of the giant island. There was a nice bay with lots of trees in the water. Caught lots of small mouth and largemouth as well as pike on topwater lures there. I explored the lake and found bass pretty much anywhere you would expect them to be.
The island is so large there actually is a family farming the island, you will hear cows mooing!!!!!
Towards the south end of the lake there is an narrow section heading towards a large bay. You will see several rough camping/hunting camps here as a marker. This also produced really well. At the end of this bay there was a creek going up to a smaller lake. There was a nice path to the other lake. That creek had bass all the way up. They were small but it meant that the bass were travelling up to the small lake. I wish I had more time to portage a canoe up to this lake... It could be well worth the effort. According to maps I was looking at there is also another small lake attached by the same creek further up.
You are going to like this lake. On the eastern side of the big island there is a huge rock shoal in the middle. This should also be good for bass but also it is good for lakers. Use it as a guide and troll around it in a large circles. It drops off quickly to 100 feet. You will see locals there fishing trout.
Cheers,
Steve

Public launch in Northfield/ Pointe Comfort, just before the dep and right across from the launch for 31 Mile.cprince wrote:I have been looking at this lake for a couple of years on Google maps... never made my way there because I did not want to traipse all over creation looking for a launch! Can someone describe how to get (And if there is one!) the public launch?
TIA!
Craig
Head through Gracefield for a few km and watch for Ch. du Calumet, it will be on your right (heading north from Gracefield). There is a dep/gas station on the corner. Just follow this road, it will turn intp Ch. Pointre Comfort, untill you arrive at the dep in Pointe Comfort. The launch is on your right. Helps to have someone with you cause the launch is really close to the road. There is a large parking lot on the other side of the road, back along the way you came, about 200 yds away.
BTW, there are a lot of markers on Pemish and they are there for a good reason.

"Gin clear" as BA described it!! Beyond belief!! I could not believe the clarity of this lake. Took me a long time to get on the fish.. by the time I did, it was time to leave.
Loons everywhere... and NICE SMBs. I got a couple of hammer handles on a lizard and 2 SMBs on a top water chug bug. Lost one on a buzz!
That farm was something!! I wonder how they got the tractor on the island!!!
I might have seen only about 30% of this lake. All on the east and southern ends. Next time I go north and west!
Fishing solo all the time, you would think I would be able to use a timer.
Here is some arm extension for you all!!

...wait... I am doing it wrong!!!!
