an ugly battle

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Hard to believe how strong they are as well. Nice sized one though. I wonder how many people know that they are a protected species in Ontario now?

Around the trolling motor shaft is a good thing. they get pretty slimy when they wrap themselves around your arm.
When hell freezes over, I'll be there icefishing!!!

If you can't stand behind our troops,
Please feel free to stand in front of them!!!

I have caught many eels and they are always a tough fight. You can usually tell its an eel with the zig zagging they do and yeah its always an adventure trying get them of the hook.

Interesting catch, I remember seeing an eel caught in Lake Ontario on a salmon charter.
That eel has quite a trip ahead to get to where it will spawn.

They send a shiver up your back when you hook into one. The American Eel is supposedly endangered and thus protected But we hooked into 3 of those slimy things last year on the Ottawa River.
