Need fly fishing gear... what to get, where to go?

if you want a low cost and decent rod and/or reel, then check out these guys:

rods
-Temple Fork Outfitters
-Albright Tackle

reels
-Okuma
-Pflueger Trion
-Reddington

lines
-virtually any line made by scientific anglers, cortland, or rio. they will all do the job.

or like was suggested, get the 8wt sage bass setup. looks decent enough to me and i considered it this spring for myself. i haven't heard anything about it, but anything coming from sage is likely to be dependable and robust.

if you're looking to compromise between salmon/brookies, then go with a 7 or 8wt. i wouldn't suggest anything smaller than a 7 personally.

If you're so bloody experienced with hundreds and hundreds of hours of casting, why did you post asking so many basic questions? If you're so experienced, you'd know that asking for a rod & line that handles 1lb specks AND 20lb salmon is like asking what depth you set your gang-troll to catch crappies in the shallows.

Maybe some of the others in the flyfishing section haven't read any of your posts in the general fishing section, but I have. You seem like a complete a**hole based on your posts. You're not too respectful of private property either based on what you wrote. To quote you on the subject of a road being posted as private, "Whatever."

Geez, you having a bad day or what, Fishboy?

Yeah, I do have loads of casting and fly-fishing experience... I just always borrowed the gear and that's why I didn't know what to buy at the store. I didn't even know there was different line... it all looked the same!

I only suggested to drive up on the tiny section of road over-looking Lac du La Montagne to get oriented... I know the owner who has sold the lots on it and it is as I said it would still be okay to do that. I was referring to that road only...

Having read your other posts, that phrase describes you best minus the "men" part....you're too much of a baby to qualify.

I never did nor will I ever consider you a flyfisherman. It takes intelligence and skill to fly fish and these are obviously beyond the pale for you.

Loving the quarrels in the Fly Fishing section...this is usually reserved for the regular Fishing forum...keep er' going...it's like grade school all over again!!
