Slammin Salmon

Got out for some salmon fishing on Tuesday. Ended up with two Kings and four Steelhead for the day. Salmon taken on spoons at 95 to 110 down over 155 to 170 FOW south of Galloo Island. Taken on Mag NK's black spoons with purple tape and a white underside. Steelhead taken off planer boards with mini dipsy's and NK 28 Watermelon out 175 feet in the same area.

Brenden's first salmon. Was great to see the boy struggling with that beast. He was more surprised at how strong it was. He did a great job with a little coaching from his old Grandpa. Think I got him hooked, He wants more!!!

Had one Salmon spool me last week, got a couple of bigger reels that hold more line. Forgot just how strong these fish are, I would gain 20 feet of line only to have the big guy take 30 feet. After a see saw battle finally got the big one to the net.

Salmon were mature Kings at 22 and 18 lbs, Steelhead were 5 to 8 lbs. Fantastic day spent with my No. 2 grandson Brenden.

If anyone is headed down for Salmon, would suggest getting some flea flicker line by Cortland, The fleas are thick.

those salmons are FAT!!!

must be quite the fight when hooking them.

I used to run charters out of Wellington a while back. The way it is best described to an angler who has never had the pleasure of catching a big King is - like catching a 30Lbs small mouth bass with the endurance of marathon runner in 200 feet of water. Hang On!!!!

If you never have and you love fishing - it's a must do!

The way it is best described to an angler who has never had the pleasure of catching a big King is - like catching a 30Lbs small mouth bass with the endurance of marathon runner in 200 feet of water. Hang On!!!!

Love your description, but would add freight train somewhere in there. As I was clearing lines for my Grandsons King, caught a glimpse of his face. JUST PLAIN STUNNED!!! It was 18 lbs. and his first.

Send me your schedule Steve, will be down there quite a bit in August. Fishing out of Mexico Bay or Stony Creek.

Hoping to get down next week, Windguru says Tuesday and Wednesday look pretty good, light SW winds. We were 10 miles offshore out of Stony Creek, just south of Henderson Harbour. Thinking of going out of Oswego or Fair Haven, waiting on some weekend reports from my buddy Todd, who lives down there. Absolutely no trouble crossing the border, you will need a current passport.

My wife wants REVENGE on the salmon she lost 14ft from the boat last year.

LOL OK - But not a frieght train, more like on of those high speed jobs over in Europe. Man can they go....

While reading the previous post pertaining to the Big lake "On". Can anyone here provide an update on the fishing out of Wellington/Brighton (Scotch Bonnet area)???

My boat will be out of the shop soon and I'm chomping at the bit....
