Jock R. produces again

Jock R. produces again

Well given the great weather I couldn't resist the urge to get out for at least a little while. Given that I was only looking at little more than an hour of daylight with which to fish, I zipped down to a favorite spot on the Jock.

The water levels at the moment are perfect for the Jock, wading friendly and deep enough to hold good sized fish. Well after about a dozen or so small rockbass and SM, I feel some significant weight on the end of my line and the tell tale rythmic pulse to head to the bottom....walleye on!

This was easily my best eye of the season. My best guess is probably close to 19", given that it was longer than my forearm. Regardless, a healthy (and fat) fish. :-)

If I can't get down to NY for trout, eyes on the fly are a nice substitute. Interestingly, all nine of my eyes this season have been caught on the Jock.

always wondered about that never had a chance to try it.........

and the gear looks kinda pricey to buy just to try!

I just drove over the Jock and thought to myself.. self, things look good, you need to get you butt out there and throw some flies...

Great fish for sure.

Brian,

It took my #6 Olive TCB Bugger (Tungston Conehead + Beadhead). I'll have to add it to the pattern database.

Doug objects to it as being too heavy but it's good in faster current when you don't want to use sinking line. :-)

Well I can still cast it with my 4wt and it does produce! 8)

Great picture.


Caught many bass in the past with my "mousy" at the end of my fly-rod.

Still have all the gear up in my garage attic.

Got to get out there one of these days.

Interestingly olive bead head woolly buggers have worked best for walleyes out here too, at least for me. Walleyes are good fun on the fly. But I have been using a 6 wt. because you never know when a 20lb pike will hit out here.
