I will be in Ottawa for the weekend due to a family trip. I believe we will be in downtown or very close to it. I will be fishing from shore with my lio bro and dad.
I am strictly a lmb kind of guy - but will try for smb.
Dow's Lake, and along the canal is worth a try. Black wave worm with blue flecks is my go to worm (rigged texas style). The Rideau River at Strathcona Park is pretty good if you don't mind a little wading. The fly fishing guys could give you a better heads up on the wading conditions there.
personally I don't mind if I don't catch fish, but I want them to catch something. They will be throwing plastics, so which of the above areas are best?
Dow's Lake on the east side, from the boardwalk up to the Bronson Bridge. The area at the bridge is usually good. The area near the Canal Ritz has some potential as well, and along the small island across from Lansdowne Park.
Dow's lake near the bridge worked like a charm. I was on the side with the marina. Fished the slop for 15mins with a frog and caught a 2.5 - 3 lbs bass. It was fairly thin so more on the 2.5ish side.
There is another side of the lake I fished really quickly, and had a bite but no hookups.
So thanks all
I'm actully in Orleans. Are there any area in this city I can fish the frog?
