lac Dumont

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

lac Dumont

Post by madog99 »

Now that trout is over , looking for some pike action and I have never been to Lac Dumont , honda accords I heard were not the best vehicle to get in with. But buddy just got a brand new GMC with 4wd so would be nice to try something different . But he doesn't want to scratch it all to crap , so my question pertains to the way in . Is there a road in wide enough not to scratch the hell out of his new truck ? And if someone could also link up a map of some sort , I know it was up the sandy creek road out of Otter Lake but that's as much as I remember ? We would need a beach or something to launch as it's 16ft trailered boat so can't horse it off the trailer .I was checking on mapquest etc but looks like pretty rough trails in ?

thanks

Take the 105 (or 5) direction Gracefield. Just before Gracefield , cross the bridge and turn left on Chemin Lac Cayamant

46° 04' 40.58" N
76° 03' 48.26 W

Continue till you reach Chemin du Petit Lac Cayamant and turn left

46° 08' 34.88" N
76° 14' 53.07" W

Stay on right for Chemin de l'aigle

46° 08' 27.07" N
76° 16' 22.32" W

Continue till the weird intersection to reach Lac Dumont, turn left

46° 10' 19.94" N
76° 19' 16.85" W

Turn right when you reach

46° 05' 56.08" N
76° 23' 17.18" W

You have arrived at the beach of Lac Dumont.

I've seen people bring in some 5th wheels in there in the past. Road is real nice, since they have done logging in there for the last few years. Should be wide and nice sand.

Hey Legrand , your gps was pretty well perfect . We arrived at the beach . Looks like a nice lake but we couldn't launch . were afraid that we would not be able to get back up that sand hill even with 4wd . Plus the destroyed car at the top and all the garbage made my pal think twice about leaving his vehicle parked there ? Too bad some people are idiots and need to trash a place like that . There was also an old boat pulled up on shore . It seems to be a popular spot for the atv/jeep crowd who like to tear up and down the beach and drive in the water , I was checking out video's on Youtube even . Big party place I guess . So we continued around the north end of the lake looking for some place to launch .There are supposed to be 2 spots on Bai Troute but we were unable to locate them .So after 4 hours of touring we ended up in Otter Lake and took the 301 over to Danford Lake for an hour of so and headed home . But we are heading back this weekend in search of the mystery landings shown on my backroad map book of sw Quebec . If anyone knows where these other landings I would be very grateful .

Plus I would not take a car into the beach road , it is sand but there are some big humps and bumps and you need some clearance I would say .

cheers

so finally made on to Lac Dumont this weekend . Went in at that crazy beach and checked out the lake looking for some deep water . Found a bay with 150ft and managed to pull up 2 little lakers . Then we had to head back to the beach and load our camping stuff as there was no way we would have camped there , crazy place . Packed in like sardines , trucks and ATV's racing up and down the beach , in and out of the water . and oh yes , car stereo's ! Found what seemed like a nice beach a few miles away by water and set up camp . note to self , when it's 33 C and sunny , do not camp on a beach without trees . We were unable to get anymore lakers and then tried for pike , again nothing . Had to pack up this morning and head back home . But that is a nice lake , bigger than I thought . Would need some more time to figure it out , plus the wind was something on sat . We had 2 nice tangles , even with riggers which normally never happens .

Did see some fauna though , water snake , turkey vulture and a pack of 6 loons swimming together which seems to be rather rare . There was also some stuff at the crazy beach to look at too

With those 100 or so people camped at the beach there was 1 boat besides ours so they don't fish . Would seem that lake would not be under a lot of pressure so I would say our fishing powers were not up to snuff . It seems that it would be a good walleye type lake also but never heard of any being caught there .

Too bad about the crowd and races on the beach.

Entry by Trout Baie does not have a launch site. I parked on the road and went down the hill with my SportsPal canoe. And yeah! that sandy hill a killer. The day I went down it, I had to ride the side of the Lake to reach the beah and then leave from there.
