Bay of Quinte Information Request

Good day all,
Just finished reading the BOQ report and did not want to hijack the thread so I will ask a few questions here.
I used to fish the bay years ago in the late fall but my fishing partner stopped fishing. Now that I have the bigger boat I plan on one or two trips down in the next couple of weeks. I will be planer boarding.
I may have to do some shopping for lures so can people suggest some that have been working this year and last (brand, colour, size)?
Does anyone know what the water temp is right now in the bay?
Are the fish in yet, the report says they are in past the ferry, how about in the stretch from Deseronto to the cement plant?
Thanks in advance for any replies. I will post a report after the trip down.

There are walleye every where from Adolphus Reach to Deseronto, the walleye have been in for a couple of weeks but the action has been slow with most guides reporting only 3 or 4 fish per day.

Cranks in any combination of the following colours will work: Purple, Pink, Blue, Gold, Silver, Orange, White, and Chartreuse.

You can try almost any deep diving crank on the market with the Reef Runner 800, Rapala Deep Tail Dancer TDD11 and Manns Stretch 20+ being the most popular.

Thanks to Eye Tracker for the reply and to TroutMuskieHunter for the PM.
One of the good things about this board is the wealth of fishing knowledge and the willingness of people to help a fellow angler out. It appears I have bought the tail dancers in the correct size and colours. A shopping trip is definitely in the works for some of the others.

Hi Sheldon - busy days ahead of you, eh?

For trolling this time of year in my bass boat, is speed as critical in the fall as in the spring, or should I still use the drifts socks to slow down with?

Pepe,
Speed is more critical in the spring as the walleye have stayed the winter in the system and are just starting to chase down baits so you find your self trolling slower in the spring.

In the fall the fish coming in from Lake Ontario will have no problem chasing down a large crank that is trolled from 1.8 to 2.8 mph as they chase down big bait all summer out in the Lake.

One caveat to this is the big hawgs seem to take the bait a bit slower as they like to look at it longer, so if you are onto lots of 22 to 35 inch walleye try slowing it down a bit to see if the larger fish will take the bait.

Fishing has been really tough the last week or so.

I got two fish yesterday both around 7lbs off Thompsons point. 1 off a silver and blue yozuri, 1 off the purple iridescent TD11 both out 200' behind a board.

Today I got skunked fished hard from cement plant, to Thompson's pt, batcave, lighthouse, back to thompson's, and up long reach almost to Deseronto. Wind switch 180 deg and blew up hard. I think the incoming weather cell put them down for a bit.

Sorry, that doesn't help much.

Hey Tim, we were out on Quinte Wednesday and boated 8 from 3-8 pounds along with a couple of huge drum...was out taping some tip's and stock footage with the crew from Normark, which is Rapala ...Storm...etc.

The speed was 1.6-1.8 mph, and as far from the boat as we could get the lines and still see the boards man...outside boards over 400 feet of line out.

Cool thing was that every fish hit "white" Storm T-Sticks...we ended up with four white baits in the water...kind of makes you wonder how the day would have gone if we had not started a single white bait in the roatation

Still saw lots of guys trolling with down riggers for fish that were marking down 65-95 feeet...and thinking they are going to live after being yanked up nearly three atmosphere's if I am correct...shouldn't be allowed.

Anyway, hope this might help you out a bit.

I can tell you how it would have ended up if you didn't have any white baits in the water.

Thanks to Scott and Jim for the replies. I may end up down there this Sunday if the weatherman is correct about the weather being semi-decent that day.
Great question on speed Pepe as I meant to ask about that.
If I go down I will let you all know how it went. Shopping time, white you say eh.

Hey i7, hope they are biting for you.

I am pretty sure it is the MAG THUNDERSTICK in colour 565

, we had so many baits in so many boxes I could be wrong ...I have a message in to my buddy Steve who we were out with for him to check...if it is not that bait I will try to post again.(I know for sure that at least one was because I took it out of the box it came in)
