boq question?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Lucky ????? Lures

Post by Superdad »

Can't comment on the 'lucky one'' as I havent got one yet.

We use Little Cleos, Swedish Pimples, Mr Champs, Rapala Jigging lures.

Some people have good luck with Northland Jigs.

You pays your $$ and you give it a try.

Lotsa Luck

You use different lures in different parts?

Best advice I can give: Use a lure (any lure) you have confidence in, and you'll get fish.

I found that it made a difference yes.....

But I concur with you Luke that indeed a confidence lure is one to stick with....

So, with that said.

I have found success with the Rapala Jigging Rap in Firetiger in W7, Buckshots, Macho Minnows....

But I have also found that depending if you fish east or west it has made a difference for me.....

You've been there twice now correct? Quick to hypothesize and give advice.

Are you referring to the reach as "east", and Belleville as "west". The bay stretches a lot further west than Belleville.

As for confidence lures. Me personally, I would never even consider using a rapala jigging rap. But that's just me. I would also never use the confidence lure that my dad has been using as long as I can remember. It's all personal choice and if you have the confidence, you will catch fish.

Back to JD's original question.

Pimples, champs, cleos, buckshot, jigging raps.

I've seen fish caught on everything and anything.

Ask an old timer and you might even get the response "rocket".

Find the fish, have the confidence, you can't go wrong.

new to BOQ

Post by Popps »

Hi guys, I'm planning my first trip down to BOQ, plan to stay with my uncle in Napanee but I don't know any spots at all, anyone willing to point me to a location I could get to easily by car then foot? Not going to pillage the place, just looking for one successful trip with my young son.

Fatluke - you seem to be giving ole' Jimmy a hard time, ouch.....sounds like you fish there a lot though, willing to point me in a good direction close to Napanee? Or is Napanee a good spot even?

Cheers all....good luck on the ice!

Hey Popps.
I do not fish there a lot anymore. Quinte is my home, I grew up there, my parents live there, so I fish it as much as I can, but not as much I'd like.

As for the napanee area, I haven't fished that end of the bay through the hard water. I fish the "west" end of the bay. I'm sure Jamsers could tell you the spots the guides took him in the east end. There are plenty of good spots around Napanee, but I will not misinform you.

Let the "modding" begin!!

Fatluc,
I'm going down thursday night and will be fishing west of Massassauga point that evening, then with any luck friday morning I'll be out east of snake island. Obviously i'll use a different minnow on my plug so yes, I am a firm believer in switching up if you fish east or west!

What if i can spit from my east hole to my west hole?

Seriously dude, desperate case, you'll be able to see the crowds of people where the fishing is historically 'good' and likely any blood on the ice from the past few days will be more than visible with the lack of flurries of late.
